Vice Chairman Tran Nam Hung welcomed Consul General Alexandra Smith and her delegation to Da Nang, where they attended the Da Nang Business, Finance and Technology Week 2026.
He also briefed them on Da Nang’s socio-economic performance during the first half of 2026 and outlined the city’s development priorities in the coming time, particularly in areas of mutual interest such as urban railways, port systems, and the Vietnam International Financial Center.
Da Nang wished to strengthen cooperation with international partners, including the UK, in developing Lien Chieu Port as a green port, facilitating technology transfer, training human resources, and supporting the city's digital port management system, he noted.
The city also called for support from British expertise in urban railway planning, technological solutions and transit-oriented development (TOD) models.

Vice Chairman Hung asked for a helping hand from the British Consulate General to support connections with venture capital funds, promote green and digital financial products, and foster high-quality workforce training for the high-tech, semiconductors and financial sectors.
He hoped that the British Consulate General will continue acting as a bridge to facilitate partnerships between leading UK universities and higher education institutions in Da Nang.

For her part, British Consul General Alexandra Smith expressed her admiration for Da Nang’s rapid economic growth.
She also showed particular interest in the city's development plans for its airport, seaport, urban railway network and international financial center.
She noted that the UK has achieved significant results through its cooperation and assistance programs in Da Nang across education, healthcare and social welfare.
The UK would continue to share expertise and expand cooperation with Da Nang in areas of mutual interest, including infrastructure development, financial services and education, she emphasized.
