DNO - The Da Nang People's Committee has just approved the revised investment policy for the project to renovate and expand domestic passenger terminal T1 at Da Nang International Airport.
The project has a total investment of nearly VND11.3 trillion (approximately US$430 million) and is developed by the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV).
The investment includes more than VND1.3 trillion already implemented and nearly VND10 trillion earmarked for the expansion phase.
The project covers a land area of more than 165,000 square meters. Of this, about 122,800 square meters have already been developed and are currently in use, while approximately 42,000 square meters are designated for expansion, adjustment and handover.
Upon completion, the total floor area of Terminal 1 will increase to around 96,000 square meters.
In addition to the terminal works, the project will include synchronized investment in supporting facilities and technical infrastructure, including elevated access roads, M&E technical areas, a wastewater treatment plant, a multi-story parking structure combined with commercial services, internal traffic systems, parking areas and other related technical works.
The project aims to increase the airport’s handling capacity to 14 million passengers per year, including both domestic and international travelers.
The expansion is intended to meet the airport’s current and future development needs, improve passenger service quality, enhance operational efficiency, align with the area’s natural conditions and deliver significant socio-economic benefits.
According to the plan, the project is scheduled to be implemented within 41 months, with construction expected to begin in August 2027.
The expanded terminal is slated for completion and operation in January 2029, while the renovation of the existing terminal is expected to be finished by August 2029.
