New cargo terminal project kicks off at Da Nang International Airport

The new cargo terminal, invested in by the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) with VND 631 billion, will cover more than 2.4 hectares and feature a three-storey main building with a mezzanine and an annual capacity of 100,000 tonnes. Supporting facilities include modern auxiliary works and environmental systems built to international standards.

As a Level II transport infrastructure project, the terminal is a key link in Da Nang’s plan to become a logistics hub for the Central Key Economic Region and the East-West Economic Corridor.

Once operational, the terminal will boost air logistics capacity, support import-export activities, enhance the competitiveness of Vietnamese goods, and serve as a catalyst for investment and socio-economic development in Da Nang and Central Vietnam.

According to Pham Duc An, Chairman of the Da Nang City People’s Committee, Da Nang International Airport is a key trade gateway for Central Vietnam and the Central Highlands, a driver of connectivity, tourism and logistics. Strong growth in tourism and import-export has pushed cargo demand beyond capacity, making the new terminal both timely and aligned with the city’s development goals.

Once in operation, it will strengthen airport competitiveness, expand cargo handling and help attract investment, particularly into the Free Trade Zone and high value-added sectors, supporting deeper integration into regional and global supply chains.

The city expressed confidence in Corporation 319 to deliver the project with quality and safety, and pledged full support to the investor and contractors.

Chairman Pham Duc An also urged domestic and international airlines to expand routes and cargo services with Da Nang International Airport, helping the city advance as a leading air logistics hub in Central Vietnam and beyond.

Da Nang International Airport, one of Vietnam’s three largest, is seeing rapid growth. In 2025, it handled 15.1 million passengers, 89,800 flights, and 41,561 tonnes of cargo, more than 2.5 times the designed capacity of the current cargo facility, which has been in operation since 2015. The new terminal is therefore considered urgently needed to meet accelerating demand in air logistics.
