DNO - On March 24, at the “EU - Vietnam Business and Investment Forum: Global Gateway Strategy” in Hanoi, Vice Chairman of the Da Nang City People’s Committee Ho Quang Buu signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Agency for Economic Cooperation and Development (AED) of the Republic of Austria.

The event, attended by Deputy Prime Minister Ho Duc Phoc, was co-organised by the EU delegation to Vietnam, the Foreign Investment Agency, and EuroCham.
The MoU aims to enhance cooperation in science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation, key pillars of Da Nang’s development strategy.
Under the agreement, both sides will share expertise, apply Austria’s best practices, and implement projects using green and digital technologies to support sustainable, climate-resilient development.
Cooperation will focus on smart cities, digital government, data-driven governance, intelligent transport, and digital infrastructure, while strengthening innovation and startup ecosystems through closer links among businesses, research institutes, and universities.
Da Nang is prioritising infrastructure upgrades, expanding innovation spaces, and developing high-quality human resources, while attracting investment in semiconductors, robotics, electronics, AI, and the broader tech startup ecosystem.
In recent years, Austria has prioritised Asia, viewing Vietnam as a gateway to Southeast Asia and promoting cooperation in high-tech industries.
AED, a non-profit agency mandated by the Austrian Government, implements the “Best Practice Austria” initiative to advance international cooperation in economic development, science, technology, innovation, and public governance through knowledge transfer, expert exchange, and proven models.
