DNO - Deputy Secretary of the Da Nang Party Committee and Chairman of the municipal People’s Council Nguyen Duc Dung, on October 6, warmly received Mr. Igor Baiazov, the newly appointed Consul General of the Russian Federation in the city, who paid a courtesy visit to mark the official start of his term.
During the meeting, Chairman Nguyen Duc Dung congratulated Mr. Igor Baiazov on his new role.
Briefing his guest on the city’s development, Chairman Dung noted that Da Nang has been expanding its urban space, thereby creating greater opportunities for international cooperation.
The city is currently prioritizing the development of key sectors, including seaports, airports, logistics, free trade zones, an international financial center, an innovation and startup center, and a smart city. These are also areas in which Da Nang hopes to expand cooperation and attract partners and investors from the Russian Federation.
In addition to investment cooperation, the city leader called for stronger collaboration in high-quality human resource training, healthcare, education, and science and technology.
Mr. Dung added Da Nang wanted to expand tourism exchanges and create the most favorable conditions possible for travel agencies and tourists from Russian localities to visit the city, and vice versa.
He voiced his hope that the new Consul General and his colleagues would continue to serve as effective bridges between the two sides, helping broaden cooperation opportunities for mutual development.

Expressing gratitude for the warm reception extended by the city leaders, Russian diplomat Igor Baiazov acknowledged the support of the local authorities and relevant agencies in successfully and safely organizing a polling station for the Russian State Duma election, serving Russian citizens living in Da Nang and the surrounding areas.
Speaking highly of Da Nang’s impressive socio-economic achievements and transport infrastructure development, Mr. Igor Baiazov noted that the city’s dynamic growth is significantly increasing its appeal to Russian tourists.
He informed that an increasing number of Russian travelers are choosing Central Vietnam, particularly Da Nang and Hue, as their destinations. This indicates significant potential for further tourism cooperation between the two sides.
Highlighting the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Vietnam and the Russian Federation, the new Consul General affirmed that one of his top priorities is to promote direct cooperation between Da Nang and Russian localities.
He pledged to do his utmost to support connections in the economic, cultural and tourism sectors as well as encourage more Russian businesses to explore investment opportunities in Da Nang in the coming time.
