The Da Nang Innovation Startup Support Centre under the municipal Department of Science and Technology said on October 1 that StartupBlink presented the award, “Fastest-Growing Startup Ecosystem in Vietnam”, to Da Nang for 2026.

The award ceremony was held online on September 30 as part of the Global Startup Ecosystem Awards 2026, with the main event taking place in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

The recognition is based on StartupBlink’s Global Startup Ecosystem Index (GSEI), which assesses startup ecosystems using indicators related to startup quantity and quality, business conditions and ecosystem connectivity.

The 2026 index covers more than 1,500 cities across 120 countries and uses more than 40 parameters. According to the Da Nang Innovation Startup Support Centre, Da Nang’s GSEI score increased by 154% between the 2025 and 2026 editions, the highest growth among Vietnamese urban ecosystems included in the index.

The city also climbed 212 places to rank 554th globally and third in Vietnam in the 2026 ranking.

The rapid rise reflects efforts to strengthen the local environment for startups and innovation, while expanding connections between startups and investors, businesses, experts and support organisations in Vietnam and abroad.

Platforms such as the Da Nang Innovation Startup Festival (SURF) and the Da Nang Venture and Angel Summit (DAVAS) have become important networking spaces, helping local startups access capital, expertise, business partners and international networks.

In the coming period, Da Nang will continue to strengthen startup support initiatives, expand domestic and international connections, and attract resources, experts, investors and technology businesses, thereby creating further momentum for the innovation ecosystem to develop in a dynamic and globally integrated direction.

StartupBlink is a global startup ecosystem research platform providing innovation economy insights and strategic advisory, supporting public and private sector ecosystem builders in strengthening their ecosystems and achieving their innovation objectives.

The GSEI, first launched in 2017, is built using hundreds of thousands of data points processed by an algorithm that takes into account several dozen parameters, which comprise three subscores: Quantity (measuring the activity level of the ecosystem), Quality (assessing the impact and success of the activity in the ecosystem), and Business Environment (evaluating how supportive the overall conditions are for startup growth). The sum of these three sub-scores makes up each ecosystem’s total score.
