DNO - The Da Nang People's Committee has just accepted a grant funding for the implementation of the “Orbis Flying Eye Hospital” program in 2026.
The project is funded by Project Orbis International, Inc. (Orbis) with a total budget of more than VND 9.6 billion. It will be implemented through August 2026 at Da Nang International Airport and the Da Nang Eye Hospital.
The program aims to enhance the professional capacity of ophthalmologists, nurses, technicians, and medical equipment engineers in Da Nang, the Central Highlands and central provinces, as well as other Orbis project locations.
The initiative is expected to contribute to improving the quality of eye care services, treatment, and prevention of vision-threatening and blindness-causing eye diseases.
As planned, the program will provide technical transfer, professional training combined with clinical practice, humanitarian medical examinations and treatment, and support for ophthalmic equipment and medical supplies for the Da Nang Eye Hospital.
A total of 235 participants are expected to attend in-person training courses, while 100 additional trainees will join online programs featuring theoretical instruction, simulation-based learning, and advanced hands-on practice.
In addition, free eye screenings will be provided for around 175 disadvantaged patients whilst 78 eye surgeries and treatments will be performed.
Specialized ophthalmic equipment, instruments, and medical supplies will also be donated to support training and patient care activities before being handed over to the Da Nang Eye Hospital for long-term management and use.
