DNO - As part of a working visit to Spain, the Da Nang delegation, led by the Standing Deputy Secretary of the municipal Party Committee Nguyen Dinh Vinh, met with the government and relevant agencies of Catalonia on June 22 (local time).

Mr. Miquel Sàmper, Minister of Business, Labour and Tourism of Catalonia, expressed his pleasure at receiving the Da Nang delegation following his visit to the city in late 2025.
Sharing the region’s development priorities, he noted that Catalonia placed special emphasis on tourism linked to culture, sports, and religion.
He also affirmed Catalonia’s readiness to support promotional activities, particularly efforts to position Da Nang as an ideal destination for training camps and coaching programs organized by Catalonia’s leading football clubs.

On behalf of the delegation, Deputy Secretary Nguyen Dinh Vinh thanked the Catalan authorities for their warm reception. He also proposed that the two sides further expand cooperation in such key areas as urban planning, sustainable tourism development, and cultural preservation.
He also highlighted several strategic projects currently being implemented in Da Nang, including the Vietnam International Financial Center in the city, the Free Trade Zone, and the Lien Chieu Port project.
At the meeting, Vice Chairwoman of the Da Nang People’s Committee Nguyen Thi Anh Thi provided additional information on the city’s sports development strategy and extended an invitation to football teams from Catalonia to participate in friendly matches in Da Nang.
The city’s leaders also suggested that both sides explore cooperation in youth football training, and create opportunities for young players from Da Nang to undergo professional training programs in Barcelona.
Representatives of the municipal Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism proposed that Catalonia connect with the Da Nang Tourism Association to facilitate concrete cooperation initiatives. They also expressed a desire to learn from Catalonia’s experience in sustainable tourism management.

On the occasion, Da Nang’s leaders invited the Government of Catalonia to attend the World Heritage Cities Conference, themed “Da Nang - Where Heritage Meets the Future” which is scheduled to take place in late 2026.
Regarding cultural cooperation, representatives of Catalonia’s cultural authorities shared that Tarragona, a city renowned for its UNESCO-recognized heritage sites, will host a heritage conference in 2027.
As part of the working program, the Da Nang delegation conducted field visits to several advanced operational models in Catalonia, including the Circuit de Catalunya, Barcelona Activa, and the School of Tourism, Hospitality and Gastronomy under the University of Barcelona.
