Sun Group breaks ground on Sun Galaxy Complex

With a total investment of nearly VND 10.75 trillion, the project is expected to create momentum for the development of the city’s cultural industry and night-time economy.

Also, it will contribute to enhancing the brand of the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival (DIFF) and strengthening the city's appeal as a premier destination along the Han River.

Covering over 210,000 square meters in Ngu Hanh Son Ward, the project is part of the Da Nang Downtown urban area.

The Sun Galaxy Complex, the city's first integrated complex of its kind, is envisioned as a year-round venue for cultural, artistic, entertainment and international events.

The highlight of the project is an outdoor stage and grandstands with nearly 20,000 seats, directly facing the Han River and the fireworks performance area.

With its modern infrastructure, the venue is designed not only to host DIFF but also large-scale concerts, cultural festivals, exhibitions, conferences and international events.

The development also includes a 47-story mixed-use commercial and service building integrating a hotel, serviced apartments, a shopping mall, restaurants, a ballroom and premium amenities.

The accommodation facilities will be managed by Accor, offering guests the opportunity to enjoy fireworks displays directly from their accommodations.

In addition, there will be parks, green spaces, public squares and riverside landscapes.

The investor will relocate the existing 110kV power transmission line underground, and complete the surrounding technical infrastructure.

The purpose is to create a new cultural, recreational and community space along the Han River.

According to Sun Group, the project’s architectural design is inspired by the flow of the Han River and the image of the moon.

The central structure is developed from a circular form measuring 69 meters in diameter, creating the concept of "The Moon Meets the Sun on the River of Light."

The project is expected to become a new architectural landmark, further elevating the DIFF brand and enhancing Da Nang's urban landscape.

As the first development launched within the Da Nang Downtown urban area, Sun Galaxy Complex is positioned as the cultural and event center of the entire township.

Upon completion, the complex is expected to revitalize the Han River waterfront area as well as promote tourism, commerce, services and real estate development.

According to the developer, the project follows an integrated model that combines performance venues, accommodation, commerce, dining and public parks within a single destination.

The model is expected to create a continuous experience from day to night for visitors, extending the length of stay, increasing their spending and providing fresh momentum for Da Nang's night-time economy.

Fully financed by private capital, Sun Galaxy Complex also supports Da Nang's strategy of developing cultural industries and modern cultural infrastructure. This will lay a foundation for the city to host international festivals, artistic performances and major events on a regular basis, thereby strengthening its position on the regional tourism and events map.

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Chairman of the Da Nang People's Committee Nguyen Manh Hung affirmed that the implementation of Sun Galaxy Complex not only marked the beginning of a landmark project but also opened up new development opportunities for Da Nang.

He said the project reflected the business community's confidence in Da Nang's investment environment and demonstrated the city's commitment to effectively mobilizing private resources for a rapid and sustainable growth.

Chairman Hung stated that, following the expansion of its development space, Da Nang had numerous opportunities from the central government's specific mechanisms and policies to develop an international financial center, a free trade zone, semiconductor industry, artificial intelligence, digital economy, logistics, innovation, and high-quality tourism.

However, he emphasized that these advantages can only be fully realized through concrete investment projects and close cooperation with the business community.

He added that alongside the leading role of public investment, private investment will serve as a key driver of breakthrough growth, helping create new industries and products, generate employment and increase economic value.

As Vietnam strives to achieve double-digit economic growth, Da Nang must also accelerate its development to become a stronger, more sustainable growth pole for both central Vietnam and the country as a whole, he noted.

Referring to DIFF, Chairman Nguyen Manh Hung affirmed that the festival has become a distinctive brand of Da Nang and an event with growing international influence.

Therefore, he said, investing nearly VND 10.75 trillion in the more than 21-ha Sun Galaxy Complex carried special significance.

Beyond serving the annual fireworks festival, the development will establish a modern riverside destination integrating culture, entertainment, commerce, hospitality and accommodation along the Han River.

Once completed, the project is expected to add a new tourism product to Da Nang, encourage longer visitor stays, increase tourist spending, create a new growth engine along the Han River waterfront, and enhance the city's competitiveness.

Chairman Hung acknowledged Sun Group's contributions to the city's development. He also affirmed that the municipal government will continue to support investors by improving the investment climate, streamlining administrative procedures, and creating favorable conditions to ensure the project is implemented on schedule.
