DNO - A statue of President Ho Chi Minh was officially inaugurated in the campus of the Da Nang General Science Library on Thursday to mark the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day (September 2).
Approved by the Da Nang People’s Committee on December 3, 2024, the statue project is classified as a level-2 cultural civil work, and built on an area of 3,041m2.
The Uncle Ho statue project is designed harmoniously with trees, lawns, pathways and granite-paved seating areas for reading.
The highlight of the project is the statue of Uncle Ho in the middle of the campus. At its center is the image of Khue Van Pavilion symbolizing wisdom, resilience, independence, and Vietnam’s long-standing tradition of learning.
On both sides are depictions of the majestic Marble Mountains - a famed landmark in Da Nang. The overall relief shows the inseparable bond between humans and nature.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Secretary of the Da Nang Party Committee Nguyen Van Quang emphasized that the project had profound political and cultural significance.
It expressed the infinite gratitude and deep respect of the Party Committee, government and people of the city for Uncle Ho - the great leader of Party and people, the Hero of National Liberation, and the world cultural figure who devoted his whole life to the independence, freedom and happiness of Vietnamese people, he added.
He underlined that the project also dedicated to the upcoming 23rd Congress of the municipal Committee for the 2025 - 2030 term.
The city Party chief affirmed that the image of Uncle Ho sitting to read a book was chosen as a symbol to inspire his spirit of self-study and passion for reading. Uncle Ho is a shining example of self-study with the constant improvement of knowledge through books and newspapers, regardless of difficult circumstances.
The statue is located at the city’s General Science Library, a knowledge space, to encourage the young generation and local people to promote the tradition of studiousness, build the habit of reading and improve knowledge.
The project not only has political significance but is also an important cultural address, meeting the aspirations of the Party Committee, government and people of Da Nang.
The site will be a place where citizens and visitors at both home and abroad can admire the statue of President Ho Chi Minh while experiencing a friendly, modern space for reading.
