The past school year has been a remarkable one for Da Nang’s students, who made their mark at international intellectual competitions across disciplines ranging from mathematics and physics to computer science and artificial intelligence (AI).

At the International Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence (IOAI) 2025, held in China earlier this month, two 11th-grade students from the Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted achieved exceptional results: Nguyen Phu Nhan won a gold medal and Hoang Cong Bao Long secured a bronze.

The IOAI is considered one of the most challenging platforms for students, demanding advanced knowledge in AI, programming skills, logical reasoning, and creative problem-solving under international competition pressure.

Earlier, at the European Physics Olympiad (EuPhO) 2025 in Bulgaria, Cap Kim Hoang Bao, an 11th grader from the same school, brought home a bronze medal.

He expressed gratitude to his teachers and family, saying their guidance had fueled his passion for physics and encouraged him to “dream big, think far, and take responsibility for future endeavors.”

Da Nang’s achievements extended beyond Olympiads. At the 75th International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) 2025 in the United States, students Huynh Huy Hung and Nguyen Nhat Tuan Kiet in Grade 12 won second prize.

Tran Quang Nhat from Le Quy Don High School and brothers Nguyen Tri Hien and Nguyen Tri Hau from Nguyen Binh Khiem High School for the Gifted in Da Nang also clinched gold medals at the International Mathematics Olympiad in Turkmenistan.

Notably, Da Nang also hosted the 25th International Mathematical Competition for the first time. The Vietnamese team won 18 individual awards, including one silver and four bronze medals achieved by Da Nang students.

According to Le Thi Bich Thuan, the Director of the Da Nang Department of Education and Training, these achievements are “not only a source of pride for the students and their families but also a milestone that underscores the city’s investment in nurturing talent and its rising position in global education.”
