DNO - Da Nang is seeking to further strengthen cooperation and connectivity with localities across the Russian Federation, particularly in the areas of economic ties, investment, culture, and people-to-people exchanges.

On the afternoon of October 8, Deputy Secretary of the Da Nang Party Committee and Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Manh Hung received Mr. Igor Baiazov, Consul General of the Russian Federation in Da Nang, who paid a courtesy call to mark the beginning of his new term.
At the meeting, Chairman Nguyen Manh Hung congratulated Consul General Igor Baiazov on his new assignment. Also, he expressed his hope that the Russian diplomat would continue to serve as an effective bridge, further deepening the traditional friendship between Viet Nam and the Russian Federation, as well as between Da Nang and Russian localities in particular.
The municipal administration leader affirmed that Da Nang stands ready to work closely with the Consulate General of the Russian Federation in advancing bilateral cooperation to a new level.
Consul General Igor Baiazov spoke highly of the cooperative ties between Da Nang and Russian localities, including Yaroslavl Oblast and Nizhny Novgorod Oblast, while expressing his appreciation for the city’s proactive efforts to establish closer links with Leningrad Oblast.

During his tenure, the Russian diplomat said he would make every effort to promote economic linkages, attract more Russian investors to Da Nang, and Central Viet Nam at large, as well as introduce the potential and strengths of Russian localities to Vietnamese businesses.
He also expressed his intention to broaden cooperation in cultural and people-to-people exchanges.
According to the Da Nang Department of Foreign Affairs, the city established official cooperative relations with Yaroslavl Oblast in 2011 and signed a cooperation agreement with Nizhny Novgorod Oblast in 1999.
Da Nang is currently working to facilitate the signing of a cooperation agreement between the municipal People’s Council and the Legislative Assembly of Leningrad Oblast, as well as a memorandum of understanding on the implementation of the 2026 - 2030 cooperation programme between the municipal People’s Committee and the government of Nizhny Novgorod Oblast.
The initiatives are expected to contribute to expanding practical cooperation between Da Nang and Russian localities, thereby contributing to the further consolidation of the longstanding friendship and the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Viet Nam and the Russian Federation.
