In the first eight months of 2026, Da Nang welcomed over 400,000 visitors from Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) countries, an increase of 94.2% against the same period in 2025. This figure accounted for around 5.8% of the city's total international arrivals.

Of this figure, nearly 300,000 visitors were from Russia, up 151.4% year-on-year, making Russia the seventh-largest international visitor source among Da Nang’s top 10.

Meanwhile, the CIS markets recorded more than 112,000 arrivals, a rise of 20.8%.

The growth of the Russian and CIS markets is contributing to diversifying Da Nang’s international visitor base.

It also creates room for the development of products suited to the preferences of these visitors, such as long-stay beach holidays, wellness services, cuisine, and cultural experiences in the city.

The information was released by the Da Nang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism at the program titled “Da Nang and Russia - CIS: A Partnership for the Future” held in the city on September 25.

The event attracted over 150 representatives from travel agencies, airlines, accommodation providers, tourist attractions, and partners involved in promoting tourism from Russia and CIS countries to Da Nang.

During the program, delegates reviewed the results of tapping the Russian and CIS markets as well as discussed market trends, air connectivity, promotion and communications activities.

They also listened to feedback from the business community to develop plans for expanding the Russian and CIS markets in 2027 and the years ahead.

These efforts aimed to gradually establish Russia and the CIS as stable, high-quality international visitor markets that make a positive contribution to the city’s tourism sector.

Since early 2026, Da Nang has rolled out a wide range of promotional and communications activities targeting the Russian and CIS markets. Included are the participation in MITT Moscow 2026, and a destination promotion campaign across the Yandex ecosystem.

The city has also strengthened coordination with airlines, travel companies and market partners to restore and expand air connectivity. It has organized flight welcome ceremonies, famtrips, and business networking activities.

On the occasion, the Da Nang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism honored 12 outstanding partners for their positive contributions to attracting, connecting with and bringing visitors from Russia and the CIS to Da Nang in recent years.
