DNO - A ceremony was held in Da Nang on Tuesday to celebrate the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Chile (1971 - 2026).

The event was jointly organized by the Da Nang Union of Friendship Organizations and the Embassy of Chile in Vietnam.
It was attended by Chilean Ambassador to Vietnam Nasly Isabel Bernal Prado, Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People's Council Doan Ngoc Hung Anh, Vice Chairwoman of the Da Nang People's Committee Nguyen Thi Anh Thi, representatives of foreign consulates in Da Nang, and Chilean businesses operating in Vietnam.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairwoman Anh Thi highlighted the significance of the milestone in the Vietnam - Chile diplomatic relations and outlined future cooperation between the two countries, particularly between Da Nang and Chilean localities.
She noted that under Da Nang’s master plan through 2050, with a vision to 2075, the city aimed to become a smart, eco-friendly city and an international financial, logistics and free trade hub.

To achieve the vision, Da Nang has been accelerating international integration as well as expanding friendly relations and cooperation with partners worldwide in its strategic aspects, she added.
She described Chile as one of the city’s priority partners and noted that the country’s strengths aligned well with Da Nang’s long-term development goals.
Vice Chairwoman Thi expressed hope that the Chilean Ambassador, Chile's Trade Promotion Agency and Chilean businesses in Vietnam would continue serving as effective bridges to strengthen traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Da Nang and Chilean localities.

Chilean Ambassador Nasly Isabel Bernal Prado expressed her belief that, building on 55 years of friendship, Chile and Vietnam would continue deepening bilateral ties for the mutual benefit, and bring Latin America and Southeast Asia closer together.
She also voiced her hope that the friendship between the peoples of the two countries would continue to be strengthened.
She, therefore, hoped that the friendship will provide a solid foundation for future generations to build an even closer, more dynamic and more effective partnership between Chile and Vietnam.

As part of the celebration, ASEAN Regional Coordinator at Chile's Trade Promotion Bureau Oscar Adolfo Arriagada Lagos, and Director of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry's Central Highlands - Central Vietnam Branch, shared insights into cooperation opportunities between businesses in Vietnam’s central and Central Highlands regions and Chile.
At the same time, the event featured a photo exhibition showcasing the remarkable achievements of 55 years of Vietnam - Chile diplomatic relations, along with exhibition booths introducing signature products and tourism potential from both countries.
