Da Nang explores bilateral cooperation opportunities with Chile

DNO - Da Nang discussed opportunities to strengthen bilateral cooperation with Chile during a courtesy meeting between Chairman of the Da Nang People's Committee Nguyen Manh Hung and Chilean Ambassador to Vietnam Nasly Isabel Bernal Prado on July 13.

Chairman Nguyen Manh Hung welcomed the ambassador and thanked her for serving on the judging panel of the 2026 Da Nang International Fireworks Festival (DIFF) grand finale and co-hosting the upcoming celebration of the 55th anniversary of Vietnam -Chile diplomatic relations.

He also briefed the delegation on Da Nang’s socio-economic performance, noting that domestic investment reached VND 58.5 trillion and newly registered FDI totalled USD 313 million in the first half of 2026, up 2.6 times year on year.

He identified trade, logistics, seaports and supply chains, science and technology, tourism, cultural and people-to-people exchanges, agriculture and food security as key areas for future cooperation.

Nguyen Manh Hung emphasized that foreign investment is a key driver of Da Nang’s growth, highlighting the city’s transparent business environment and modern infrastructure.

He called on the ambassador to promote Da Nang to Chilean businesses and support investment in high technology, manufacturing, logistics, renewable energy, and high-value services, while expressing hope that Chile would serve as a gateway to the Latin American market.

He also expressed his hope that Ambassador Nasly Isabel Bernal Prado would continue strengthening cooperation between Vietnam and Chile, as well as between Da Nang and Chilean localities.

For her part, Ambassador Nasly Isabel Bernal Prado thanked the city's leaders for their warm reception and praised Da Nang's remarkable achievements across various sectors, particularly tourism.

She expressed interest in expanding cooperation in areas of mutual potential, including trade, investment, tourism, culture, education, and people-to-people exchanges, while promoting cultural exchange activities to further strengthen friendship between the peoples of Vietnam and Chile.
