Da Nang Party Secretary receives Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam

DNO - Secretary of the Da Nang Party Committee, Le Ngoc Quang, on the afternoon of July 10th, warmly received Chinese Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Vietnam, He Wei, during his visit to the city.

Also attending the reception were Chief of the Da Nang City Party Committee Office, Phan Van Binh, and Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee, Nguyen Thi Anh Thi.

At the reception, Secretary Le Ngoc Quang expressed his pleasure to receive Chinese Ambassador He Wei and his wife at a time when several exciting events are taking place in the city, especially the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival (DIFF) 2026. He also congratulated the Chinese fireworks team in reaching the final round of DIFF 2026.

In additon, Secretary Le Ngoc Quang briefed his guests on Da Nang's socio-economic situation in the first six months of 2026, with the city's economic growth rate reaching 9.52% and receiving 9.8 million tourist arrivals, including 4.5 million international ones, an increase of 21% compared to the same period last year.

Da Nang currently attracts 144 FDI projects from Chinese businesses, with a total investment of US$820 million, focusing on industries of processing, manufacturing, garments, footwear, construction, mineral exploitation, and tourism services.

Mr. Quang emphasized that tourism is considered a key driver for the city's development. Da Nang also aims to increase industrial and technological proportion by focusing on synchronous infrastructure in the industrial and hi-tech parks.

The Da Nang leader hoped to attract more large investors from China and committed to creating favorable conditions for the investors to do business in the city.

Secretary Quang asked Chinese Ambassador He Wei's support in resuming direct flights between Da Nang and major cities in China. He also expressed a desire to learn about the experience in training highly skilled personnel in areas where China excels, such as high technology, semiconductors, artificial intelligence (AI), smart urban management, and finance.

Chinese Ambassador He Wei thanked the Da Nang leader's warm welcome and congratulated the city's impressive socio-economic achievements, particularly its planning efforts for Da Nang to become a livable city.

The ambassador noted that Da Nang possesses all the necessary and favorable conditions to expand cooperation with Chinese localities. The city has a significant advantage in terms of waterway connectivity with coastal cities in China, opening up potential for extensive cooperation in supply chains and science and technology.

Ambassador He Wei affirmed that he would introduce reputable Chinese businesses to survey and invest in Da Nang City. He also noted that Da Nang shares many similarities with China's Shenzhen. So, he pledged to support Da Nang leaders in learning about Shenzhen's experiences in managing and developing smart urban infrastructure.

In the coming time, the two sides will strengthen coordination, promote substantive cooperation, and further deepen the Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership between Vietnam and China.
