Da Nang affirms position as new destination for fintech and green finance

DNO - The seminar themed “Da Nang - A New Destination for Fintech and Green Finance in Vietnam” took place in Zurich, Switzerland, on Wednesday.

Deputy Secretary of the Da Nang Party Committee Ngo Xuan Thang delivered a concluding speech at the seminar.

Hosted by Da Nang in partnership with the Swiss FinTech Association, the event was attended by Deputy Secretary of the municipal Party Committee Ngo Xuan Thang, and Permanent Vice Chairman of the local People's Committee Ho Ky Minh, along with leaders of relevant agencies of Da Nang and the Embassy of Vietnam in Switzerland.

Also, it saw the participation of representatives from major corporations in Switzerland, including Swiss FinTech Association, NayaOne Limited, Tether and Tenity, plus investment funds, international consulting organizations and businesses operating in Fintech and sustainable finance.

In his remarks at the seminar, Vice Chairman Ho Ky Minh outlined the city's orientation to develop an International Financial Center in Vietnam, with a focus on two strategic pillars: financial technology (Fintech) and green finance.

He also introduced investment opportunities, incentives and available infrastructure supporting fintech development, such as the Da Nang Hi-Tech Park, the Software Park No. 2 and the soon-to-be-developed International Financial Center project.

During the seminar, the city's leaders and delegates discussed mechanisms, policies, legal frameworks, implementation progress and the potential for cooperation between Da Nang and international partners in building a modern, transparent and environmentally friendly financial ecosystem.

On behalf of the leaders of Da Nang, Deputy Secretary of the municipal Party Committee Ngo Xuan Thang affirmed that the sharing of experts and scientists at the seminar demonstrated the trust, companionship and aspiration for mutual development between Da Nang and both domestic and international partners, especially in the fields of finance, technology and sustainable development.

The city's leader voiced his hope that Da Nang will become a "laboratory" for new financial ideas and models where corporations, startups and financial institutions can together create a modern, safe and environmentally friendly digital financial ecosystem.

Da Nang has been focusing on developing high-quality human resources as well as coordinating with Vietnamese intellectual associations and businesses in Europe, the UK and Ireland to attract global talent to work in the city, he added.

Mr. Thang reaffirmed that Da Nang will always create favorable conditions for global financial and technology experts to participate in the operation and development of Vietnam’s International Financial Center.

The city also remained committed to proactive, creative, and open collaboration with global partners, thereby building a transparent, stable, and attractive investment environment.

On the afternoon of the same day, Standing Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People's Committee Ho Ky Minh met with Dr. Mirjam Staub-Bisang, Chair of BlackRock Switzerland.

In addition, he chaired a working session with Dr. Urs Lustenberger, Chairman of LP Legal, a law firm specializing in arbitration, litigation and corporate law. The company has a strong influence in international legal issues, especially in the Asia-Pacific region.
