Organized by the Da Nang People's Committee in coordination with the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group, the event aimed to discuss solutions for Da Nang to gradually turn itself into an important destination for specialized and sustainable financial services.

According to Mr. Lin Hui, Factors Chain International (FCI)'s Regional Director for North-East Asia, Da Nang should affirm its position by focusing on niche areas instead of following the "general financial center" model of traditional financial centers. He also suggested the city position itself as a new global center for sustainable supply chain financing.

Meanwhile, Mr. Perapong Srivipapattana, Client Relations Director of IFS Capital Group, emphasized that Da Nang boasted a great potential to become a regional Fintech hub thanks to its growing technology ecosystem, young workforce, strong government commitment to digital transformation, and proactive foreign investment policies.

He highlighted Da Nang had the opportunity to lead in three key areas: green finance aligned with sustainable development goals, trade finance driven by the free trade zone model, and a sandbox mechanism that enables safe testing of innovative financial technologies.

To attract Fintech investors, Mr. Perapong Srivipapattana stressed the need for the city to develop a comprehensive Fintech ecosystem and position Da Nang as Vietnam’s smart and digitally innovative financial center with strong ASEAN connectivity.

In addition, he suggested building a favorable legal and business environment by streamlining the licensing, visa, and office establishment processes, and offering tax incentives and other support packages.

He highlighted the necessity for Da Nang to strengthen the public-private partnership with international financial institutions or development funds to jointly invest in Fintech infrastructure.

The city could promote its image in Fintech markets such as Singapore, Hong Kong (China), and Seoul (South Korea) to attract investors already operating in this field, he added.
