DNO - Since Vietnam and Switzerland officially upgraded their relations to a Comprehensive Partnership in January 2025, Da Nang has proactively connected and expanded cooperation with Swiss partners, thereby affirming its position on the international cooperation map.

Trusted, practical partnership towards comprehensive cooperation
Since establishing diplomatic ties in 1971, Vietnam and Switzerland have continuously strengthened their friendship, and comprehensive and effective cooperation.
Currently, Switzerland is the 6th largest European investor in Vietnam with 214 foreign direct investment (FDI) projects totaling over US$ 2 billion, ranking 21st among 152 countries and territories investing in Vietnam.
Over the past three decades, Switzerland has provided Vietnam with over US$ 800 million in non-refundable aid, focusing on vocational education, private sector economic development and climate change response.
In the context of the strengthening of bilateral ties, Da Nang has been making efforts to expand cooperation with potential Swiss partners.
At present, Da Nang attracts three Swiss-invested projects worth more than US$ 1.13 million in total, mainly in the field of information technology and services. They are the Open Web Technology Vietnam Co., Ltd., the XIAG Vietnam Co., Ltd. and the Global-Consult-Expats Co., Ltd.
Despite being modest in scale, these projects lay an important initial foundation to open up larger-scale cooperation in areas where Switzerland has strengths such as finance, hi-tech, tourism, vocational education, and sustainable development.
Da Nang - A promising destination for financial cooperation
Currently, Da Nang is actively inviting Swiss experts and financial institutions, including Sygnum Bank, to advise on mechanisms and policies to develop an international financial center.
In particular, the city has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Switzerland-based Concessor AG Company to attract European financial investors for on-site exploration and partnership opportunities.
Da Nang is now implementing two nationally strategic projects: an International Financial Center and a Free Trade Zone, designed to create new growth momentum for Central Vietnam.
The city is concentrating on building a robust, transparent legal framework in order to create the most favorable conditions for investors. To date, more than 40 domestic and foreign organizations and enterprises have shown their keen interest in becoming members of the soon-to-be-developed financial center.
Along with financial sector, Da Nang is promoting the development of key technology industries such as semiconductors, microchips, and artificial intelligence (AI), gradually forming a smart urban ecosystem that highlights its strong innovation capacity in line with Switzerland’s long-standing global leadership in innovation.
Chairman of the Swiss - Viet Economic Forum (SVEF) Philipp Rösler noted SVEF 2025 not only offered a good chance for Swiss businesses to better understand the Vietnamese market but also opened up new cooperation opportunities in Da Nang - a dynamic city with strategic vision.
“We are proud to bring Switzerland’s financial community and experts to support Da Nang in building a modern, efficient and sustainable international financial center, thereby contributing to deepening the Vietnam - Switzerland cooperation relationship” he added.
