DNO - Bringing folk cultural and artistic activities into schools contributes to promoting and preserving the cultural heritage values of the nation.
Da Nang possesses numerous folk cultural heritages that shape the city's cultural identity. To promote and preserve these heritage values, schools citywide regularly integrate folk cultural and artistic forms into educational activities. This approach contributes to arousing love for national culture among pupils.
Take the Nguyen Chon Junior High School as an example, it has recently organized many folk cultural and artistic activities in its extracurricular activities.
In addition, the school has facilitated its pupils to attend the annual 'Cau Ngu' (Fish Worshipping) Festival in Thanh Khe Ward.
Most recently, the school has organized the Folk Culture Festival during the 2024 - 2025 academic year to celebrate the 94th anniversary of the founding of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of Da Nang. The event drew large numbers of pupils.
In Hai Chau Ward, the Ngoc Lan Kindergarten transformed folk art and culinary activities into a form of both learning and playing.
The school regularly lets children experience folk activities such as the games of swimming in the Bay Mau Nipa Palm Forest and rowing a basket boat while listening to Quang Nam folk songs. In music education, teachers sing folk songs to children and play the flute melody of these songs.
Meanwhile, the Le Dinh Chinh Primary School in Hoa Cuong Ward encourages its pupils to include folk genres in flag-raising performances or school activities.
At the university level, the inclusion of folk culture and arts into activities is also of interest.
"Integrating knowledge about folk culture not only arouses students’ interest in practical experiences but also evokes their sense of responsibility for national cultural values", said MSc. Nguyen Thi Kim Bai, staff of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities of the Duy Tan University.
