DNO - Vietnam has once again made its mark at the 2026 World Travel Awards as it has been named Asia’s Leading Destination for the eighth time and Asia’s Leading Heritage Destination for the fourth time.
At the awards ceremony for the Asia, Oceania, and Indian Ocean regions recently held in the Maldives, Vietnam has been honored in two categories for 2026: Asia’s Leading Destination and Asia’s Leading Heritage Destination.
This marks the eighth time Vietnam has received the title of Asia’s Leading Destination and the fourth time it has been named Asia’s Leading Heritage Destination.
These figures hold special significance as Vietnam’s name continues to feature prominently among the winners of an international travel awards program with a history spanning over three decades, alongside many other renowned destinations in the region.
For international visitors, Vietnam’s appeal may begin with a morning overlooking crystal-clear waters, a stroll through moss-covered old streets, the vibrant colors of a highland market, or the lively rhythm of its major cities.
For those who have visited Vietnam, memories of the country are often shaped by simple things such as landscapes, food, customs, smiles and warm hospitality.
Everyone may have their own way of falling in love with Vietnam. Some are drawn to its long stretches of beaches, while others are fascinated by its ancient architecture.
Some explore mountains, forests and caves, while others choose vibrant cities to experience festivals, cuisine and nightlife.
This diversity creates a multifaceted image of Vietnam in the eyes of international visitors.
Vietnam’s continued recognition with two major titles is a source of pride as its scenic beauty, cultural depth and vitality continue to receive international recognition.
Beyond the national-level honors, numerous Vietnamese localities and destinations have received recognition in major categories at the 2026 World Travel Awards. This highlights the growing diversity of Vietnam’s tourism, from large cities and event hubs to destinations known for their natural landscapes, culture and heritage.
Specifically, Ha Noi has been named Asia’s Leading City Break Destination. Ho Chi Minh City has continued to demonstrate its strength in urban tourism by receiving titles of Asia’s Leading Festival & Events Destination and Asia’s Leading Business Travel Destination.
The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism has been named Asia’s Leading City Tourist Board 2026.
Among emerging destinations, Son La Province has two representatives recognized. In particular, Ta Xua has been voted Asia’s Leading Emerging Tourism Destination, while Moc Chau has received the title of Asia’s Leading Regional Nature Destination.
Meanwhile, Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park has continued to be recognized as Asia’s Leading National Park, while Tam Chuc has been honored with Asia’s Leading Cultural Tourist Attraction.
Apart from destinations, numerous well-known Vietnamese tourism brands in the hotel, resort, aviation and travel sectors have also received top honors in Asia in 2026.
Sun Group has been named Asia’s Leading Integrated Tourism Group, while Sunset Town Phu Quoc has awarded the title of Asia’s Leading Tourism Development Project.
In the aviation sector, Vietnam Airlines has been honored as Asia’s Leading Airline - Customer Experience and Asia’s Leading Airline - Premium Economy Class.
Van Don International Airport has earned the title of Asia’s Leading Regional Airport while Ha Long International Cruise Port has received the title of Asia's Leading Cruise Port 2026.
Vietravel has been named Asia’s Leading Tour Operator 2026 and Vietnam’s Leading Tour Operator 2026, while Sun World Ba Na Hills has received the award for Asia’s Leading Theme Park 2026.
In the resort segment, InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort has been named Asia’s Leading Luxury Resort 2026; Salinda Resort Phu Quoc Island has received the title of Asia’s Leading Boutique Beach Resort 2026; and Premier Village Phu Quoc Resort has been voted Asia’s Leading Villa Resort 2026.
The simultaneous recognition of destinations and tourism service providers in Vietnam at the World Travel Awards 2026 demonstrates the growing competitiveness of the country’s tourism sector on global tourism map.
