DNO - Sailors from the U.S. Navy aircraft carrier USS George Washington have been exploring Da Nang’s culture and cuisine as part of the carrier strike group’s visit to the city from July 30 to August 5.

The sailors sampled some of Da Nang’s signature dishes, including Quang noodles, banh xeo (Vietnamese pancake), salted coffee, and coconut ice cream.
They also visited several of the city’s cultural, historical, and tourist attractions, such as the Marble Mountains, Hai Van Gate, Ba Na Hills, traditional markets, and craft villages, including the Nam O fish sauce village.

In addition to visiting popular attractions, many crew members took time to experience the daily life of local residents through simple yet authentic activities, such as enjoying coffee at sidewalk cafés, tasting local specialties, and shopping at traditional markets.
According to Nguyen Son Thuy, Director of Visit Indochina Travel Company, which organised the tour for the sailors, the itinerary was specially designed around the theme “Touching Authenticity” to provide genuine local experiences.

The programme introduced international visitors to Da Nang’s rich culture, history, cuisine, and local way of life. It is hoped that each sailor will leave Vietnam with lasting impressions of the city’s people, culture, and hospitality.
