Da Nang encourages U.S. investment in strategic sectors

DNO - Chairman of the Da Nang People's Committee Nguyen Manh Hung on Monday hosted a reception for U.S. Ambassador to Vietnam Jennifer Wicks during her official visit to the central Vietnamese city.

Chairman Nguyen Manh Hung congratulated Ambassador Jennifer Wicks on her appointment.

He also expressed confidence that, in her new role, she would continue to make significant contributions to advancing the Vietnam-United States Comprehensive Strategic Partnership while further strengthening cooperation between Da Nang and U.S. partners.

Chairman Nguyen Manh Hung noted that U.S. Ambassador's visit comes at a time when bilateral relations between Vietnam and the United States continue to develop positively, reflected in a growing number of cooperative activities and exchanges taking place in Da Nang.

The city highly appreciates the valuable contributions and continued partnership of U.S. agencies, organizations and businesses to its development over the years, and looks forward to broadening cooperation in line with its emerging development priorities.

Da Nang has maintained strong growth momentum and is on track to implement a range of special development mechanisms and policies, including the establishment of the International Financial Center and the Free Trade Zone.

The city is also promoting new growth drivers such as the semiconductor industry, artificial intelligence (AI), high technology, the digital economy and innovation.

Recognising the United States as one of Da Nang's key investment partners, Chairman Nguyen Manh Hung called on Ambassador Jennifer Wicks to continue supporting connections between the city and leading U.S. technology corporations and enterprises, encouraging them to explore investment opportunities in Da Nang's strategic growth sectors.

He also expressed the city’s interest in strengthening cooperation on high-quality human resource development, fostering partnerships among universities, research institutes, businesses and investment funds and supporting the development of a vibrant innovation ecosystem.

In addition, Da Nang seeks to expand collaboration with U.S. partners in education, healthcare, energy transition, environmental protection, climate change adaptation, tourism promotion and people-to-people exchanges.

Ambassador Jennifer Wicks thanked the city's leaders for their warm hospitality and reaffirmed her commitment to working closely with U.S. agencies, businesses and partners to deepen cooperation with Da Nang, thereby contributing to the continued development of the Vietnam-United States Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
