New show for tourists launched in Da Nang

As part of the “Di San Da Yen” (Heritage Banquet) series, “Khai Ha Nhat Thong Yen” combines a culinary experience with a live performance of Vietnam’s cultural heritage. It offers audiences and visitors a new way to explore Da Nang’s cultural heritage.

Inspired by the construction of the Vinh Te Canal and the life of the renowned historical figure Thoai Ngoc Hau, the show takes audiences through three chapters: “Khai Kinh Lap Dia” (Opening the Canal, Shaping the Land), “Thuy Lo Thong Thuong” (Waterways Connecting Trade) and “Nhat Thong Thai Binh” (Unity and Lasting Peace).

The first chapter, “Khai Kinh Lap Dia”, recalls the challenges of reclaiming land and opening waterways.

“Thuy Lo Thong Thuong” portrays the vitality awakened by the formation of waterways, which paved the way for trade and settlement.

The final chapter, “Nhat Thong Thai Binh”, brings the story to an atmosphere of peace, prosperity and reunion.

Folk songs, Bai Choi singing, Tuong, dance, traditional music and Vietnamese traditional musical instruments are woven throughout the three chapters.

Each art form serves a distinct function within the storytelling structure.

In particular, folk music evokes the rhythms of everyday life. Bai Choi brings the distinctive musical character of central Vietnam, and Tuong adds a stylized theatrical dimension and a sense of solemnity.

Meanwhile, dramatic scenes develop the storyline and characters, and dance and traditional instruments connect the performance’s rhythm and emotions.

In the “Khai Ha Nhat Thong Yen” show, Da Nang’s signature cuisine is not presented as a separate dining service but is integrated into the narrative.

The dishes, the banquet setting, the musical rhythm, and the stage performance are interconnected, taking audiences on a journey that engages sight, sound and taste.

This format reflects the concept of a hospitality show, a performance that combines the arts with a service-oriented experience in which every point of interaction contributes to telling a shared story about the land and its people.

The program contributes to Da Nang’s efforts to develop distinctive night-time tourism products as well as to expand the presence of heritage within contemporary life.
