DNO - Starting January 1, 2027, Vietnam will launch a national platform for product and goods identification, authentication and traceability, laying the groundwork for a unified nationwide data system.

The Vietnamese Government recently issued Decree No. 372/2026/ND-CP on the identification, authentication and traceability of products and goods. The decree comprises eight chapters and 38 articles and will take effect on January 1, 2027.
Under the new regulations, the national platform for product and goods identification, authentication and traceability will be developed to create, collect, update, connect, share and utilize data related to products and goods.
Accordingly, each product or item of goods will be assigned a unique identification code, or UID.
The code will be automatically generated on the national platform, enabling individual products or specific batches and lots of goods to be identified and traced.
Through the UID, product traceability will be carried out in the digital environment, creating a data chain that facilitates the inspection and verification of product origins.
The decree also provides for the development of a National Product and Goods Database. The database is designed to establish a unified source of information for product identification nationwide, as well as authentication of the origin, quality and distribution history of goods.
Provincial-level People's Committees will be responsible for developing plans for data exploitation, sharing and use, and organizing information systems capable of integrating with the national platform.
