My Khe Beach to transform into spectacular open-air stage

Presented as a signature highlight of Enjoy Danang Festival 2026, the site-specific production marks the first time Da Nang has transformed its iconic shoreline into a real-scene stage, where the ocean itself becomes part of the performance.

Rather than treating the beach as a backdrop, the creative team has embraced nature as a central storyteller. The night sea, rolling waves, sea breeze and endless horizon will blend seamlessly with music, lighting design, choreography and cutting-edge visual technology to create an experience unlike any conventional theater production.

At the heart of the stage stands a monumental sail-shaped installation, symbolizing the maritime heritage of Da Nang and the region’s enduring spirit of exploration, openness and global connection. The image reflects centuries of seafaring traditions while representing the city's aspirations for the future.

The performance unfolds through the poetic journey of a single drop of water originating from the upper reaches of the Thu Bon River. As it flows toward the sea, the river becomes a metaphor for the evolution of the region itself, nurturing generations of communities, traditions and cultural identities.

In particular, audiences will travel through the tranquil riverside countryside, centuries-old craft villages, fishing communities and historic trading ports, including Trung Phuong, Dien Ban and Hoi An. Each chapter reveals how nature and people have shaped one another over hundreds of years.

Alongside recounting history, the production celebrates a region where heritage continues to inspire innovation. Traditional values are portrayed not as relics of the past but as living foundations that continue to evolve alongside modern development.
