The Vietnam Tourism Awards is a prestigious award organized annually by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. It aims to honor destinations, businesses and organizations that have made positive contributions to the development of the country’s tourism sector, reaffirming its vital role in the national economy.

This year, the Thanh Ha Pottery Village in Hoi An Tay Ward is the only destination in the Central region to receive the title “Best Community-based Tourism Destination”.

The award is not only a source of pride for the craft village but also a testament to the right direction in linking tourism development with the local community.

Earlier, in late 2024, the Tra Que Community-based Tourism Village also in Hoi An Tay Ward was named by UN Tourism among the "World’s Best Tourist Villages in 2024".

Joining the prestigious network of the best tourist villages allows Tra Que to benchmark and further pursue sustainable development aligned with global standards.

Most recently, Cam Thanh Village in Hoi An Dong Ward has been listed by Forbes Magazine in The World's 50 Most Beautiful Villages in 2025 and it is the only village in Vietnam on the list.

According to the assessment made by leaders of UN Tourism and recommendations from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Cam Thanh possesses strong potential to join the network of the world’s best tourist villages in the future, following the model of a fishing village where traditional livelihoods and water-based tourism coexist harmoniously.

The community-based villages surrounding the ancient town of Hoi An have become some of the most successful models of community-based tourism in the city.

National and international recognition is a great motivation for these villages to continue innovating and diversifying their products, and increasing their revenue from tourism. In turn, this creates more resources for them to preserve traditional cultural values and develop sustainable craft villages.
