Viettel Group, Viet Nam’s military-run telecommunications company, broke ground on a new technology complex at the eastern bank of the Han River in Da Nang on Tuesday.
The event was attended by Secretary of the Da Nang Party Committee and Head of National Assembly Deputies' Delegation Nguyen Van Quang, Deputy Secretary of the municipal Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Committee Luong Nguyen Minh Triet, and Deputy Secretary of the municipal Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Council Nguyen Duc Dung.
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Chairman Luong Nguyen Minh Triet stated “This is the first major project to break ground on the historic first day of the new Da Nang City. The city expects the complex to become a hub for Viettel's most advanced digital technology solutions, and a place for researching, testing and applying new technologies, boosting digital transformation solutions, and fostering cooperation activities toward the goals of rapid and sustainable development. It will greatly contribute to smart governance, digital investment promotion, digital finance and high-quality capital attraction to the city, whilst spreading the spirit of innovation and digital transformation to the business community and investment ecosystem”.
Covering a total floor area of 80,000m2, the Viettel Da Nang complex will have a total investment of about VND3,000 billion. The complex, designed in the shape of the letter 'V' for Viettel, will feature two towers, each having 18 floors and 2 basements. They will be fully integrated with functions for research, core technology development, product testing, data operations and office space for hundreds of experts, engineers and high-tech researchers.
The project marks a strategic step in Viettel's vision for high-tech infrastructure development in Central Viet Nam. It is also the most modern high-tech office building in Da Nang, which is launched in celebration of the city’s transition to a new government model following the merger.
This will be the place to deploy key areas of telecommunications, information technology, logistics, aerospace, telecommunications electronics, artificial intelligence, network security, and cloud computing. Viettel also aims to develop the complex into an open ecosystem that supports research cooperation, incubates solutions and develops technology human resources for the whole region.
In Da Nang, in addition to this landmark project, Viettel plans to carry out two other important technology projects. The first is the ALC Da Nang submarine cable landing station, expected to start construction in the third quarter of 2025 in Ngu Hanh Son Ward. This is the 6th international submarine cable in Viet Nam, connecting many countries in the region, and providing with a total capacity of up to 18,000Gbps.
Meanwhile, the second project is Viettel Data Center at the Hoa Khanh Industrial Park, set to begin construction in the first quarter of 2026. With a 14MW capacity, it will be the largest Uptime Tier 3-certified data center in Central Viet Nam, significantly supporting the region’s digital transformation.
The Viettel Da Nang complex is expected to be completed by June 2027.
