(DNO) - Chinese Ambassador to Viet Nam He Wei reaffirmed China’s commitment to supporting Da Nang in operating and developing free trade zones and international financial centre.
Secretary of the Da Nang Party Committee and Head of National Assembly Deputies' Delegation Nguyen Van Quang hosted a reception in the city on Monday for Chinese Ambassador to Viet Nam He Wei.
During the meeting, Secretary Quang informed that localities across the country simultaneously held ceremonies on Monday to announce resolutions and decisions issued by the Party Central Committee and local authorities on the merger of provincial- and commune-level administrative units. Together with the whole country, a new Da Nang was established based on the merger of the former Da Nang and Quang Nam Province, opening up new development opportunities.
The city leader also briefed his guest on the potential and advantages of the new Da Nang, especially special mechanisms and policies such as the establishment of free trade zones and an international financial centre.
Mr. Quang asked for help from the Chinese diplomat to appeal for more localities and enterprises from his country to seek cooperation opportunities with Da Nang in the fields of trade and investment, as well as share experience in building free trade zones and financial centres so that Da Nang can operate and develop these two aforementioned new economic models. Along with that, he suggested that Mr. He Wei promote cultural and tourism exchange activities with Chinese localities.
For his part, Chinese Ambassador to Viet Nam He Wei congratulated the newly established Da Nang city with its open space and development potential.
He also shared some information on the operation and development of free trade zones and international financial centres. He pledged that he will support and enhance cooperation in human resource development in this field with Da Nang in the time to come.
The Chinese Ambassador voiced his hope that the two sides will soon promote the restoration of direct flights from major Chinese cities to Da Nang to develop tourism on both sides.
