Ms. Kate Wallace, Australian Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City, said Vietnam was entering a pivotal decade for climate action and green growth.

Building on its commitment to net-zero emissions by 2050 and its national development goals, Vietnam is actively investing in renewable energy, resilient infrastructure, sustainable transport, circular economy solutions and climate-smart agriculture, she added.

She informed that at the regional level, Australia's US$2 billion Southeast Asia Investment Financing Facility (SEAIFF) is helping direct capital toward key sectors, including clean energy and sustainable infrastructure.

Additionally, the Innovative Finance Facility for Climate in Asia and the Pacific, managed by the Asian Development Bank (ADB), helps reduce the risks associated with climate investments, attracting additional private capital to projects that might otherwise struggle to secure financing.

Through its development investments, Australia is also channeling funding into funds and businesses operating in clean energy, climate technology, sustainable agriculture and inclusive finance.

At the forum, plenary sessions and thematic presentations examined the global and Vietnamese climate finance landscape.

Participants discussed capital mobilization through commercial banks, venture capital and blended finance to expand funding for sustainable development.

Discussions also focused on the long-term potential of emerging financial platforms, including the Vietnam International Financial Centre (VIFC) in Da Nang, to mobilize private investment and help close the country's green finance gap.

As part of the event, WUSC and Impact Link Asia JSC signed a Memorandum of Understanding to implement the pilot “EcoChain” program under the AGILE project.

The initiative will help climate-focused businesses improve their capacity to measure and report impact, and enhance their readiness to access investment capital.

Implemented by the Agency for Private Enterprise and Collective Economy Development from 2025 to 2029, AGILE aims to strengthen climate resilience for more than 90,000 vulnerable people by fostering an inclusive business ecosystem for climate-focused enterprises, particularly those owned, led by or benefiting women.

The project seeks to drive systemic change through three main pillars: strengthening the capacity of business support organizations; mobilizing inclusive private capital; and expanding the adoption of gender-lens investing mechanisms.
