DNO - As Da Nang seeks to establish itself as Central Vietnam’s premier culinary destination, the city is increasingly embracing international gastronomic influences while continuing to showcase the richness of local cuisine.

International visitors enjoy European cuisine in Da Nang.

The growing presence of European culinary brands and dining experiences is further diversifying its food landscape.

A notable addition is the first outlet of renowned French bakery brand Maison Kayser at Ba Na Hills. Founded by Eric Kayser in Paris in 1996, the brand now operates more than 300 stores in 26 countries.

According to Nguyen Thi Hong Tham, Director of Da Nang’s Tourism Promotion Centre, the arrival of internationally recognised culinary brands reflects the city’s efforts to diversify and enhance its dining options.

European cuisine is becoming increasingly prominent in Da Nang, with authentic pizzerias, artisan bakeries and restaurants serving French, Italian and Spanish specialities now found throughout the city.

European cuisine has now become familiar to both residents and visitors. Alongside local specialities, Da Nang now offers a growing selection of authentic European breads, pastries and dishes, particularly in the city centre and the An Thuong Tourist Quarter.

According to chef Pham Dinh Long from the Da Nang Culinary Association, one of Da Nang’s key strengths is its abundant supply of fresh local ingredients.

He believes that combining these ingredients with modern European culinary techniques can create internationally competitive dishes while preserving the distinctive character of Central Vietnam, highlighting the city’s strong potential as a culinary destination.

Da Nang’s embrace of European food culture extends beyond restaurants and bakeries. Local organiser Da Nang 365 has launched a recurring craft beer festival featuring locally produced beers inspired by European brewing traditions, alongside food pairings that represent various European cuisines.

The event aims to enhance visitor experiences and further diversify the city’s food and beverage offerings.

City tourism officials see the growing presence of European cuisine as an opportunity to enrich, rather than replace, local culinary traditions.

By blending international influences with the flavours and heritage of the Quang Nam - Da Nang region, the city aims to strengthen its position as a dynamic and globally connected culinary destination.

As Da Nang attracts more international visitors, its evolving food scene highlights the successful fusion of local identity and global gastronomy.
