DNO - Heritage digitalization contributes to its preservation, research, and promotion of its values to the public. Heritage itself requires a digital win to endure through the flow of culture.

Crafting an enduring digital legacy

The Hoi An Creative Map, launched in September 2026, is a digital platform that integrates information about the local creative ecosystem. It aims to introduce experiential journeys that connect visitors with craft villages, heritage sites, and various unique creative activities.

The platform offers a range of interactive experiences for visitors, such as exploring Hoi An Ancient Town via the Global Positioning System (GPS) and checking in at heritage sites using QR codes. Especially, the "Xuyen Mach Nghe" platform utilizes the digital map to facilitate visitor experiences across more than 20 locations within this ancient town.

Thereby, Hoi An Ancient Town is transformed into an interactive, game-like digital map, accessible at: https://hoiancreativecity.com/xuyenmachnghe. Visitors can select their own routes, follow directions, read stories, check in at locations, answer questions, and earn points during their visit.

Meanwhile, the Management Board of the My Son World Cultural Heritage Site, where houses over 60 architectural ruins, 3 structural vestiges, and more than 2,200 artifacts, has comprehensively digitalized all its temple-tower complex. Alongside, various typical artifacts have been chosen for digitalization.

At the Vietnamese and English website https://myson360.vn, visitors can explore the temple-tower complex and access detailed information via 3D visualizations.

In addition, “My Son Metaverse/VR 360” features a virtual guide that provides an overview for visitors. Additionally, “AudioGuide”, a smart system, is also integrated, offering 40 narratives tailored to the visitor’s route and available in multiple languages.

Meanwhile, museums across the city, including the Da Nang Museum and the Da Nang Museum of Cham Sculpture, are accelerating their digital transformation. This includes digitizing artifacts and extensively applying technology to archival and promotional efforts.

At the local level, youth union members are actively leveraging digital technology to digitize “red addresses” (sites of great historical, revolutionary, and cultural significance), making it easier for residents and tourists to access information.

Director of the Da Nang Museum Huynh Dinh Quoc Thien noted that over 2,500 artifacts at the museum have already been digitized.

“Heritage digitalization is not merely about promotion or tourism development; more importantly, it serves to preserve cultural and historical values for future generations. Data must be comprehensive and accurate to support research, conservation, and restoration efforts as necessary," said Director of the Da Nang Museum Huynh Dinh Quoc Thien.
