Under the theme "Vision," the two teams are expected to bring contrasting artistic styles and creative approaches, painting the skies above the Han River with spectacular displays of light and color.

Australian newcomer aims high with inspiring vision at DIFF 2026

Making its DIFF debut, Skylighter Fireworks Pty Ltd arrives in Da Nang with an impressive international track record. Most recently, the Australian team claimed second prize at the 2024 Pohang International Fireworks Festival in South Korea.

"Our greatest strength lies in our technical expertise. Our talented, creative and dedicated technicians have meticulously programmed every lighting effect to synchronize perfectly with the musical score, creating a seamless and immersive performance", said Robert Cameron Fairbanks, the team's representative.

As revealed by the team, the Han River skyline will be transformed into an artistic ocean of fireworks featuring a rich variety of aerial effects.

Audiences can expect sharply defined five-pointed stars, shimmering golden and green palm bursts and elegant cascading waterfalls of fireworks flowing across the night sky.

The finale will build to an intense sequence of high-altitude shells, delivering a powerful climax that symbolizes the pursuit of new heights.

Alongside its technical precision, Skylighter Fireworks Pty Ltd will present a performance titled "Beyond the Horizon," conveying a message of ambition, optimism and limitless possibility.

The team hopes to inspire audiences, particularly young people, to dream big, embrace innovation and help shape a brighter future.

To reinforce that message, the performance will be accompanied by energetic, widely recognized contemporary music, inviting tens of thousands of spectators to sing along and share in the uplifting atmosphere.

"As this is our first time competing at DIFF, we are determined to make a strong impression on the audience. The festival is also an excellent opportunity to showcase the artistry of Australian fireworks as well as its unique culture to international visitors.

To us, the theme 'Vision' represents optimism and the belief that together we can build a better future." Fairbanks said.

Portugal returns to DIFF with sights set on the championship

Backed by nearly a century of experience, an impressive collection of international awards and the "Most Creative Performance" title at DIFF 2025, Portugal's Macedos Pirotecnia Lda returns to Da Nang with one clear ambition: to claim the festival's top prize.

According to team leader Andre Macedo, last year's competition marked the company's debut at DIFF and provided an outstanding start.

Building on that experience, the Portuguese team has prepared an even more ambitious performance for 2026, combining fireworks of various calibers to create greater visual depth, dramatic highlights and unexpected moments throughout the show.

"We want to elevate the visual experience to an entirely new level and deliver a truly breathtaking performance for the audience," Macedo said.

At the heart of Macedos Pirotecnia Lda's design is a seamless blend of traditional pyrotechnic effects and elegant fountain-style fireworks.

These classic elements are carefully interwoven to create richly layered movements across the night sky.

For the Portuguese team, they are not merely time-honoured techniques passed down through generations, but also an expression of the company's identity amid the continuous evolution of modern fireworks artistry.

One of the team's signature strengths is its ability to synchronize multiple launch sites simultaneously.

Waves of fireworks ignite in perfect harmony, intersecting to form expansive layers of light that create striking visual compositions and spectacular sky-filling crescendos above Da Nang.

The finale, a hallmark of the Portuguese team's performances, promises to be another unforgettable highlight.

Audiences can expect the company's signature Titanium Flashes effect, with brilliant bursts of dazzling white light erupting in rapid succession to illuminate the entire sky with extraordinary intensity.

"The theme 'Vision' carries a powerful message about constantly pushing beyond limits and looking toward the future. It is also about becoming better than who we were in the past. With more than 90 years of experience, our goal is not simply to present a fireworks display, but to create a complete artistic experience where audiences can genuinely feel the emotions and the message behind every sequence. We want to paint images across the sky that spectators have never seen before." Macedo said.
