DNO - An increasing number of businesses are investing in tourism, services and cultural development in Da Nang. Their efforts are helping transform cultural heritage into creative products, enhance the city’s tourism appeal and generate new drivers of local economic growth.

Currently, a growing number of businesses are investing in cultural and artistic projects linked to tourism, thereby helping enhance Da Nang’s appeal and strengthen its urban brand.
Notable examples include the “Hoi An Memories” project, invested in by Gami Group, and the Sun Galaxy Complex, a development designed to host the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival (DIFF).
Since its debut in 2018, the “Hoi An Memories” show has attracted millions of spectators over eight years of performances.
With the message “One Day in Hoi An, 400 Years of Memories”, the show takes audiences back to Hoi An’s heyday as a trading port in the 16th and 17th centuries, recounting 400 years of history while evoking pride in the heritage-rich land.
Additionally, the show has become a signature tourism attraction in Hoi An, beloved by international visitors.
It contributes to extending visitors’ stays and increasing their spending in the ancient town, as well as bringing Vietnamese culture to global audience.
Ms. Yuki Nakatani, a visitor from Nagasaki (Japan), remarked “When I came to Hoi An, what I looked forward to most was experiencing the spectacular outdoor show at Hoi An Impression Theme Park. The performance made my trip even more meaningful”.
Meanwhile, the Sun Galaxy Complex, with a total investment of nearly VND 10.75 trillion in the urban area along the Han River, is expected to become the city’s first internationally scaled cultural and event infrastructure complex.
The project is expected to elevate DIFF, boost the night-time economy and create new growth momentum for tourism, trade and services.
According to Sun Group, the complex is being developed to provide DIFF with a venue commensurate with the festival’s scale and ambitions. While DIFF represents a convergence of emotion and aspirations for international integration, Sun Galaxy Complex will serve as a home for the festival’s continued growth.
The development will be more than a venue for fireworks displays. It will be a multi-functional complex capable of hosting major music festivals, artistic performances, exhibitions, conferences and large-scale international MICE events.
A key feature of Sun Galaxy Complex is its outdoor stage and seating area with a capacity of nearly 20,000, facing the Han River and the fireworks display area.
Equipped with modern technical infrastructure, the complex will serve not only DIFF but also major music concerts, cultural festivals, exhibitions, conferences and large-scale MICE events.

These projects aim to lay the foundation for the development of Da Nang’s cultural industries and night-time economy. They will help attract more visitors, create jobs, stimulate related service sectors and open up opportunities in order to generate new economic value from cultural resources.
This approach aligns with the policy on cultural industry development outlined in the Politburo’s Resolution No. 80-NQ/TW regarding the development of Vietnamese culture, which envisions the private sector playing a key role in investment, innovation, and the development of cultural institutions and products.
As social resources are mobilized more effectively, culture is no longer viewed solely through the lens of preservation and public enjoyment. Instead, it is increasingly recognized as a sector capable of generating added value and making a direct contribution to socio-economic development.
Da Nang aims to develop cultural industries into a source of new value, aimed at enhancing the city’s competitiveness and strengthening its position among the region’s creative cities.
In this strategy, attracting and harnessing resources from private businesses will be crucial to increasing cultural investment and fostering the development of a cultural industries ecosystem.
