DNO - Da Nang is stepping up efforts to connect Vietnam’s film industry with international partners and promoting the Da Nang Asian Film Festival (DANAFF) at the Asian Contents & Film Market (ACFM), as part of the 31st Busan International Film Festival in the Republic of Korea (RoK).

On October 11, a delegation led by Da Nang People’s Committee Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Anh Thi attended a discussion titled “Film Festival: A Bridge between Vietnamese Cinema and the World” and Vietnam Night in Busan, the RoK.
Organised by the Vietnam Film Development Association (VFDA), the events aimed to showcase Vietnamese cinema, promote the fifth Da Nang Asian Film Festival (DANAFF V) and expand opportunities for international cooperation.
The discussion brought together film industry managers, producers, directors, experts and international partners from Vietnam, the RoK and other countries.
At the event, Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Anh Thi outlined the city’s plans to develop DANAFF Industry Days into a platform connecting Vietnam’s film industry with international markets.
The initiative is expected to facilitate co-productions and film distribution, while linking film projects with investors, producers and potential partners.
Da Nang is also focusing on promoting its filming locations, improving support conditions for film production and developing human resources and related services.
The Production Attraction Index (PAI) was highlighted as a useful tool for identifying the city’s competitive advantages, pinpointing areas for improvement and strengthening its ability to attract domestic and international film crews.
With “Connection” as its guiding message, Da Nang aims to position DANAFF Industry Days as a reliable bridge between Vietnamese cinema and the global film community.

Also held on October 11, Vietnam Night brought together representatives of film authorities, filmmakers, producers, artists and industry partners from Vietnam, the RoK and other countries.
At the event, VFDA presented an overview of Vietnamese cinema and DANAFF. Promotional videos introduced Da Nang’s image and filmmaking potential, while selected Vietnamese film projects were showcased to international participants.
Through these activities, the city sought to highlight its cultural resources, creative potential and ambitions for film industry development. It also reaffirmed its goal of making DANAFF a meeting point for filmmakers, projects and cooperation opportunities linking Vietnam with the international film community.
“Come to Da Nang, come to DANAFF - where new stories begin” was the invitation extended to international filmmakers and partners to explore filming locations, seek production partnerships and discover the city’s creative potential.

Participation in activities held alongside the Busan International Film Festival is expected to broaden Da Nang’s international film network, enhance the city’s global profile and promote links between cinema, culture, tourism and the creative industries.
The city aims to strengthen its capacity to attract film production projects and gradually establish itself as a competitive filming destination in the region and beyond.
DANAFF V is scheduled to take place from June 27 to July 3, 2027, with several activities beginning on June 24.
In addition to film screenings and awards, the festival will feature DANAFF Industry Days, a film project market, a screenwriting workshop, masterclasses led by international experts and training programmes for young talent.
As Vietnam hosts APEC 2027, DANAFF V is also expected to introduce an APEC Cinema Spotlight and an APEC Cinema Forum, creating further opportunities to connect Da Nang’s film industry with partners across the Asia-Pacific region.
These initiatives will allow the city to welcome internationally acclaimed filmmakers while gaining insights into film market development, financing and creative workforce training.
The festival is part of Da Nang’s broader strategy to develop its film industry and strengthen its position as a destination for domestic and international film production projects.

Through DANAFF V, Da Nang aims to build stronger international partnerships, nurture local talent and create more favourable conditions for film production, positioning the city as an emerging hub for cinema and creative industries in the Asia-Pacific region.
The Da Nang People’s Committee and the Vietnam Film Development Association (VFDA) have signed a cooperation agreement to advance the city’s film industry.
Participation by companies such as BHD, Galaxy Studio and CJ CGV Vietnam, alongside partners in technology, tourism and entertainment, also highlights the potential to mobilise private-sector resources for industry development.
