DNO - In accordance with Politburo Resolution No. 59-NQ/TW on international integration in the new context, Da Nang has proactively expanded cooperative relations, aiming to become one of Asia’s dynamic international cities.

For Da Nang, the implementation of the abovementioned resolution comes at a time when the city faces pivotal development opportunities.
The newly-expanded development space following the administrative boundary adjustments has opened up greater room for the city’s growth.
At the same time, Da Nang has effectively capitalized on the special mechanisms and policies authorized by the National Assembly to boldly pilot new models and access advanced global development trends.
Notably, the three strategic pillars: the Da Nang Free Trade Zone, the Vietnam International Finance Center in Da Nang, and the “Da Nang - City of Innovation” project are gradually taking shape and expected to become new growth drivers for the city in the years ahead.
Based on this orientation, the city’s foreign affairs strategy has been designed to serve development goals, with economic diplomacy placed at its core.
In the first six months of 2026, Da Nang’s foreign affairs activities remained vibrant. Eleven delegations of the city’s officials made working trips to various countries and territories.
Their agendas focused on investment promotion for the International Financial Centre and Free Trade Zone projects, while also studying models of modern urban development, public transportation, digital transformation and innovation.
Conversely, the municipal leaders received and worked with 33 international delegations and organizations, and foreign partners, involving a total of 385 visitors.
Many high-level delegations from Laos, South Korea, Germany, Japan, the European Union, and international financial institutions visited Da Nang to explore opportunities for cooperation and investment.
Notably, the city successfully signed 12 international agreements with foreign localities, organizations and enterprises.
To date, Da Nang has maintained cooperative relations with 61 localities, international organizations and businesses across 24 countries and territories through 66 active agreements.
Areas of cooperation have covered a wide range of sectors, including economy, trade, investment, education, science and technology, environmental protection, human resource training and sustainable development.

In the first half of 2026, the city organized numerous large-scale investment promotion, trade and international connectivity events.
Included were the Investment, Trade and Tourism Cooperation Forum on Promoting Connectivity along the East-West Economic Corridor held in Laos, a meeting with Japanese businesses, and specialized conferences on green finance and innovation.
Foreign investment attraction continued to show positive momentum. As of mid-June 2026, the city had attracted nearly US$320 million in foreign direct investment (FDI), including dozens of newly licensed projects and existing projects with increased capital.
Cumulatively, Da Nang is now home to more than 1,000 valid FDI projects with a total registered capital of over US$10 billion.
Alongside FDI, official development assistance (ODA) and development aid have continued to be effectively utilized.
The city is currently coordinating with central agencies and international organizations to prepare several large-scale projects for the 2026 - 2030 period.
Import and export activities have also recorded strong growth. Despite facing pressures from logistics costs and international market fluctuations, local businesses have proactively diversified export destinations, and taken advantage of free trade agreements.
Meanwhile, the city’s innovation-driven startup ecosystem has made notable progress, climbing 130 places in the global ranking of leading startup ecosystems to reach 766th position worldwide.
As for cultural diplomacy, diverse cultural exchange programs, tourism promotion campaigns and destination branding activities have contributed to raising Da Nang's profile internationally.
Built upon foundations nurtured over many years and driven by a strong aspiration to rise, Da Nang is steadily affirming its role as a growth engine of central Vietnam and a gateway connecting the country with the region and the world.
