DNO - The 2026 Da Nang City Open Traditional Boat Race championship, Kingtek Cup, will be held on the Han River on the morning of August 30. The event aims to celebrate the 81st August Revolution and National Day (September 2) of Vietnam.
This race will take place from 7:30 AM to 10:30 AM on the stretch of the river between the Han River Bridge and the Dragon Bridge. It will be broadcast live on the VTV8 channel and via VTV8 and VTV digital platforms.
The race is designed for male and female boat teams representing communes, wards, and special zones within Da Nang, as well as localities across the country. Each participating unit may register a maximum of two men's teams and two women's teams.
For the women's traditional boat category, the organizers expect 20 boats to compete over a course of three double rounds, totaling 4.5km. The men's category is expected to feature 24 boats racing over five double rounds, covering a total distance of 7.5km.
The municipal Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism is the lead organizer, responsible for technical operations, referees, rescue and medical services, and the installation of the buoy system. VTV8 is responsible for producing the live broadcast, developing the scripts for the opening and closing ceremonies, and executing promotional activities for the race.
