DNO - Da Nang is strengthening its presence in key international markets through diverse cultural promotion, expanded air connectivity and targeted programmes in a bid to attract more visitors.

Promoting Da Nang tourism through air connectivity

Recently, Da Nang introduced its tourism, culture and heritage at the Vietnam Festival in Kanagawa 2026, Yokohama, Japan. The city’s delegation joined cultural exchanges as well as tourism promotion and people-to-people activities.

Also, it presented Da Nang tourism at the Vietnam Tourism Seminar and operated a booth showcasing Da Nang’s destinations and heritage, particularly Hoi An.

Held annually since 2015, the Vietnam Festival in Kanagawa has developed into a major platform for cultural, tourism, trade and people-to-people exchanges between Vietnam and Japan.

For Da Nang, the event provided a direct channel to introduce its tourist attractions, cultural values and tourism products to Japanese residents, visitors and the Vietnamese community in Kanagawa. Air connectivity is another important gateway.

Thai Airways plans to launch direct Da Nang - Bangkok air services on December 1, 2026, with two round-trip flights a day between the Da Nang International Airport and Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport.

The new air service will give travellers an additional option between Central Viet Nam and Thailand while strengthening Da Nang’s access to Bangkok, one of Southeast Asia’s major aviation hubs.

Through Thai Airways’ network, passengers can continue from Bangkok to other destinations across Thailand, Asia, Europe and other international markets.

The Thai market is already showing strong growth. Da Nang welcomed more than 225,000 Thai visitors in the first seven months of 2026, up about 23% year on year.

This Vietnamese city currently has dozens of weekly round-trip flights with Bangkok. Meanwhile, the new Thai Airways service is expected to expand capacity and travel options.

Offering more valuable travel experiences

Da Nang offers a diverse tourism landscape, bringing together beaches, mountains, forests, rivers, and a rich cultural and heritage base.

The city is also developing tourism products around cultural experiences, golf, MICE, cuisine, weddings and wellness, supported by a year-round calendar of international festivals and events.

For the Thai market, this diverse tourism offering creates opportunities to develop longer and more varied itineraries. A single trip can combine beach relaxation with golf, gastronomy, wellness, heritage exploration and major events.

A wider range of tourism products can also support longer stays and encourage repeat visits.

According to Mr. Cao Tri Dung, the Chairman of the Da Nang Tourism Association, air connectivity and market promotion should work together as two important elements in expanding the city’s international tourism network.

Direct flights remain important, while major regional hubs such as Bangkok, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and Dubai can help connect with travellers from markets that do not have direct flights to Da Nang.

This network-based approach is particularly relevant to long-haul markets in Europe, South Asia and the Middle East.

Better connections through regional aviation hubs can broaden Da Nang’s reach in tandem with creating opportunities for cooperation among airlines, travel companies and destinations.

Staying connected with key markets

Alongside developing new connections, Da Nang is on track to strengthen relationships with established international markets, including the Republic of Korea (RoK).

During the Korean Mid-Autumn Festival, known as Chuseok, the “I Love Da Nang” programme is offering more than 5,000 gifts and vouchers to RoK visitors.

From September 21 to 27, travellers can receive souvenirs such as tote bags, lanterns and keychains, together with offers covering transportation, dining, entertainment and tourism experiences. Some promotions continue through September 30.

At Da Nang’s Sun World Ba Na Hills, for example, RoK visitors can receive VND50,000 off cable-car tickets and selected dining combos.

The programme creates a direct point of connection with visitors during their stay in Da Nang. Vietnamese Mid-Autumn Festival gifts and service offers add a welcoming touch for travellers from RoK, a market with long-standing ties to the city.

The festival shares some similarities in timing and family-oriented traditions with the Chuseok festival.

Holding the programme during this period therefore provides an opportunity to introduce local culture in a familiar and engaging way for RoK visitors.
