DNO - Da Nang is strengthening its appeal among international travelers, with interest continuing to rise particularly in European, Russian and Southeast Asian markets.

Fresh data from major travel platforms shows that the city's growing visibility is increasingly translating into searches, bookings and demand for travel experiences.

According to Agoda, Da Nang has remained among the destinations most searched by European travelers for the second consecutive year, highlighting its appeal to long-haul visitors seeking a combination of beach holidays, leisure and cultural experiences.

Da Nang is also gaining momentum among travelers from Southeast Asia. Traveloka's latest SEA Index identifies Da Nang, alongside Phu Quoc, Con Dao and Hoi An, as one of the leading Vietnamese destinations driving growth in Southeast Asian travel demand.

Traveloka Vietnam Managing Director Huynh Thi Mai Thy said Da Nang recorded growth across several categories, including accommodation, attraction tickets and family travel. Particularly notable was the 132 percent year-on-year increase in bookings for Sun World Ba Na Hills, reflecting growing demand for experience-based tourism.

Da Nang was also the only Southeast Asian destination to record notable growth across four of the five source markets tracked – Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam – further strengthening its position among the region's fast-growing international destinations.

The strongest surge is coming from Russia.

Data from Yandex, a major search engine in Russia, showed that searches for travel to Vietnam rose 91 percent in the first six months of 2026 compared with the same period in 2025. Searches specifically for Da Nang surged 281 percent, placing the city among the Vietnamese destinations recording the strongest growth in Russian interest.

Even more strikingly, searches directly related to tourism activities in Da Nang jumped 413 percent during the first half of the year. Such searches accounted for approximately 12 percent of all tourism-related searches for Vietnam on Yandex over the same period.

Growing online interest is also translating into bookings. According to Yandex Travel, hotel bookings in Da Nang increased 155 percent year on year in the first six months of 2026. In the second quarter alone, bookings were 42 percent higher than in the first quarter.

The figures suggest that Da Nang's appeal is increasingly built around more than its beaches. Travelers can combine coastal holidays with nature, entertainment, cuisine and cultural experiences, while using the city as a gateway to destinations across central Vietnam.

To sustain this momentum, Da Nang's tourism sector is, for the time being, expanding cooperation with international online travel platforms, using their data, marketing networks and digital reach to target key source markets.

Agoda, for example, is continuing to promote Da Nang through multilingual content targeting travelers in Vietnam, Thailand, Japan, South Korea, India and other international markets.

Da Nang is also turning increasingly to content creators to amplify its image overseas. On August 21-22, Da Nang will cooperate with Klook to welcome nearly 150 creators from different countries, giving them opportunities to experience and showcase the city's attractions to international audiences through digital platforms.

The approach reflects a broader transformation in destination marketing. Search behaviour, booking data and creator-generated content are becoming important tools for cities competing for international travellers.

For Da Nang, the latest figures point to a clear opportunity: international interest is no longer simply being measured by how often travelers search for the city, but by whether that curiosity turns into bookings, experiences and actual visits.

The next challenge will be to convert this growing attention into longer stays, higher visitor spending and repeat travel, laying the foundation for more sustainable international tourism growth.
