DNO - SURF 2026 has highlighted Da Nang’s growing startup momentum, with the city receiving international recognition from StartupBlink and climbing to No. 554 globally in the 2026 Global Startup Ecosystem Index.

Held on August 18-19, the Da Nang Innovation Startup Festival - SURF 2026 brought together startups, businesses, investors, technology experts and young innovators for two days of networking, knowledge exchange and investment opportunities.
The event showcased the growing energy of Da Nang’s innovation ecosystem, from startup competitions and in-depth forums on technology unicorns to exhibitions and investment matchmaking.
More importantly, SURF 2026 demonstrated the city’s ambition to connect local innovation with international markets and resources.
A major highlight was the announcement of StartupBlink’s international recognition of Da Nang as “Vietnam’s fastest-growing startup ecosystem”.

According to StartupBlink’s 2026 Global Startup Ecosystem Index, Da Nang ranked 554th worldwide.
This marked a remarkable rise of 342 places in just two years since the city first entered the global top 1,000 in 2024. Da Nang also maintained its position as the No. 3 startup ecosystem in Vietnam.
The rapid rise reflects the city’s growing investment in science, technology, innovation and digital transformation, as well as the increasingly connected infrastructure and support network serving startups and innovative businesses.
SURF 2026 also placed a strong emphasis on strategic technology sectors, including artificial intelligence, semiconductors, digital technology, blockchain, green technology and digital transformation.
The event created opportunities for businesses and investors to explore cross-border partnerships and for promising ideas to connect with capital, markets and expertise.

At the opening ceremony of SURF 2026, organisations and businesses signed memoranda of understanding and announced investment cooperation in innovation startups.
SVentures also launched its investment fund in Da Nang, while two local companies received financial support for technological innovation: VND193 million for Central Industrial Machinery Manufacturing Co., Ltd. and VND700 million for EM AND AI JSC.

At the closing ceremony, Nguyen Thanh Hong, Director of the Da Nang Department of Science and Technology, said the success of SURF 2026 should not be measured simply by the number of activities, participants or cooperation agreements signed.
More importantly, SURF has strengthened its role as a meeting point for Da Nang’s innovation ecosystem connecting ideas with resources, businesses with markets, investors with promising projects, and Da Nang with the global innovation network.

SURF is becoming a platform through which Da Nang connects ideas with resources, businesses with markets and investors with emerging opportunities.
Its latest international ranking signals that Da Nang is increasingly positioning itself as an open, connected and fast-growing innovation hub in Southeast Asia.
