Da Nang's economy maintains growth momentum

DNO - According to the latest statistics, Da Nang’s economy continued to maintain positive growth momentum across various sectors in August and the first eight months of 2026.

Most indicators post growth

From the beginning of the year through the end of August 2026, the total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue reached an estimate of VND207.827 trillion, up 23.9% year on year.

Specifically, retail sales of goods stood at VND112.311 trillion, up 23.2%, whilst revenue from accommodation and food services generated VND46.932 trillion, up 25.1%.

Meanwhile, revenue from travel and tourism services totaled VND3.611 trillion, up 5.9%, and that from other consumer services was estimated at VND44.972 trillion, up 25.1% from the same period in 2025.

These results were supported by the city’s continued organization of large-scale cultural, sporting and trade promotion events, including the EWEC - Da Nang International Trade, Tourism and Investment Fair, the Ngoc Linh Ginseng and International Medicinal Herbs Festival, the Vietnam - Korea Festival and the World Cup Pickleball.

Over the first eight months of the year, accommodation establishments served an estimated 14.25 million visitors, up 24.9% year on year. International arrivals reached 6.88 million, up 26.3%.

During the 8-month period, the turnover of goods was estimated at US$3.43 billion, up 12.6%, while imports reached US$3.2 billion, up 10.3%, resulting in a trade surplus of US$217.8 million.

Alongside trade and services, industrial production also maintained solid growth.

The Index of Industrial Production (IIP) for the first eight months of 2026 was estimated to rise 9.7%, driven primarily by the manufacturing and processing sector, which grew 10%, and electricity production and distribution, which increased 4.4%.

Several key industrial products recorded impressive growth, including the manufacture of other transport equipment, up 122.9%; electrical equipment, up 29.5%; wood processing and the manufacture of wood, bamboo, rattan, straw and plaiting products, up 25.6%; and the repair, maintenance and installation of machinery and equipment, up 23.9%.

Budget revenue and investment show strong performance

As of August 25, the city’s total state budget revenue reached VND63.816 trillion, up 77.6% year on year.

Domestic revenue played a key role, hitting VND59.744 trillion, accounting for 93.6% of total revenue and rising by 90.1%. Revenue from import-export activities was VND3.012 trillion, up 15.5%.

State budget expenditure stood at VND52.597 trillion, up 6.4%, with development investment spending reaching VND20.455 trillion, an increase of 44.2%, providing resources for key infrastructure projects.

Foreign direct investment (FDI) also recorded strong growth, with 100 newly licensed projects, up 29.9%, with the total registered capital of US$522 million, up 258.2%, or more than 3.5 times, compared with the same period last year.

The city’s business community also continued to expand, with 4,352 newly established enterprises registering more than VND26.8 trillion in capital, representing increases of 11% in the number of businesses and 46.2% in registered capital.

Additionally, 1,574 enterprises resumed operations, up 4.2%, bringing the total number of newly established and reactivated enterprises to 5,926, an increase of 9.1%.

Total bank deposits reached VND411.606 trillion, up 6.9% from the end of 2025, while outstanding credit hit VND464.791 trillion, up 3.4%, meeting the economy’s capital needs effectively.
