DNO - Da Nang is leveraging its traditional craft villages, folk cultural values, and natural landscapes in innovative ways to offer visitors unique and new experiences. It is suitable for the city's "Return to the Origins" message, developing local identity and community life into tourism products.

New tourism experiences in traditional destinations
The People's Committee of Hoi An Dong Ward (Da Nang City) has recently issued a plan to develop a new sightseeing route in the Bay Mau nipa palm forest titled "Return to Cam Thanh to Listen to the Nipa Palm Forest Telling Their Story" (Phase 1).
This product builds upon existing basket boat tours by integrating cultural values, traditional craft experiences, exploration of Cam Thanh village’s natural waterways, and community interaction.
A highlight of the program is the development of local cultural values and daily life into a narrative-driven visitor experience. Traditional crafts, folk arts, riverine landscapes, and community-based activities have all been put into a single experiential setting. This strategy creates new opportunities for local residents, business households, and service providers to participate in the product value chain.
According to Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Thien, Deputy Director of Hai Van Cat International Travel Company (Hava Travel), the above approach aligns with the trend of visitors in authentic local experiences.
Tourism products can be refreshed by leveraging existing cultural values, landscapes, and community life. It means a single location can provide multiple layers of experiences tailored to visitor groups who are interested in exploring culture, nature, or history.
Refreshing tourist experiences
Refreshing tourism products based on existing assets necessitates preserving the destination's values. On the Son Tra Peninsula, the annual “Clean Up Son Tra-Green Weekend” campaign, organized by the Management Board of Son Tra Peninsula and Da Nang Tourism Beaches, focuses on mobilizing the community to protect the natural landscape and environment.
This has attracted widespread participation from businesses, organizations, clubs, groups, and volunteers. Cleanup drives along routes such as Le Van Luong-Linh Ung Pagoda, Yet Kieu-Ban Co Peak, and Le Van Luong-Green Lake, as well as at various tourist attractions, have collected large amounts of garbage, including plastic waste.

Ms. Nguyen Ngoc Linh (a resident of Son Tra Ward), who has participated in “Clean Up Son Tra” for years, noted that such activities can become an integral part of the tourist experience. Visitors can contribute to preserving the places they visit, deeply exploring natural landscapes. This can create unique experiences for green tourism while simultaneously fostering environmental awareness.
If local landscape, culture, and community life are effectively leveraged, it will both enrich the visitor experience and enhance the destination's long-term appeal.
This approach also enables the “Return to Origins” message to be turned into reality via product development and community engagement, thereby distinguishing the city's tourism offering in an increasingly competitive market.
According to the Da Nang Tourism Promotion Center, in 2026, Da Nang will collaborate with Agoda to launch the "Da Nang Travel Guide." It showcases the city's attractions, experiences, festivals, beaches, and accommodation options on the online platform.
Under the theme “Return to Origins,” the content will be available in multiple languages, including Vietnamese, English, Korean, Thai, Japanese, and Indian languages, to facilitate access to information for international travelers as they research and plan their trips.
