DNO - Da Nang has emerged as the most-searched overseas destination among Thai travellers looking for stays of 30 nights or more, according to Agoda, highlighting the growing appeal of long-stay travel that combines remote work with leisure.
Rather than treating travel as a complete break from work, more people are combining professional commitments with extended holidays and lifestyle experiences.
Known as “bleisure” travel, this model is increasingly shaping destination choices.
For longer stays, travellers are looking beyond traditional attractions, placing greater emphasis on affordability, infrastructure, connectivity and quality of life.
Da Nang ranked first in Agoda’s search data among Thai travellers seeking overseas accommodation for at least 30 nights.
The Vietnamese coastal city offers a combination of relatively affordable living costs, modern amenities, beaches and urban conveniences, making it attractive to travellers looking for a balance between work and leisure.
Other destinations in the top searches included Bali, Tokyo, Kuala Lumpur, Ho Chi Minh City and Seoul. Bali continues to appeal to digital nomads and remote workers, supported by its wellness-oriented lifestyle and facilities suitable for working away from home.
Tokyo attracts travellers with its world-class infrastructure and highly connected public transport, while Kuala Lumpur stands out for its value for money and comprehensive urban amenities.
Ho Chi Minh City and Seoul also benefit from a combination of culture, affordability and quality of life.
Agoda Country Director for Thailand and Indochina Akkaporn Rodkong said the data showed growing interest in overseas destinations that combine lifestyle, value for money and infrastructure.
The trend suggests that the traditional boundary between work and holidays is becoming increasingly blurred.
For Da Nang, the ranking offers another indication of the city’s growing potential as a long-stay and remote-work destination in Southeast Asia, as travel increasingly evolves from short holidays towards a more flexible blend of work, leisure and extended living.
The preference for longer stays is also evident among international travellers visiting Thailand.
Pattaya ranked first among Thailand’s most-searched destinations for stays of 30 nights or more, followed by Phuket and Koh Samui.
Hua Hin and Cha-am also remained popular among travellers seeking a quieter coastal lifestyle within relatively easy reach of Bangkok.
Southern Thailand’s island destinations were particularly prominent, with Krabi, Koh Phangan, Koh Tao and Koh Lanta among the most-searched locations.
Their appeal reflects demand for destinations where travellers can combine natural surroundings, leisure activities and the practical requirements of remote work.
