Da Nang leaders receive Japanese Ambassador to Viet Nam

Japanese Ambassador to Viet Nam Ito Naoki met with Da Nang leaders on Friday during his trip to the city.

During his reception for the Japanese diplomat, Secretary of the Da Nang Party Committee Nguyen Van Quang expressed his pleasure to welcome Mr. Ito Naoki and his spouse in the city.

Providing an overview of the new Da Nang, Secretary Quang noted that it was the largest among the 6 centrally governed cities. The city boasted 2 airports and 3 seaports along with a well-developed transportation system that connected the North-South and East-West axes seamlessly. Additionally, the ecosystem and tourism infrastructure were considered the best in Viet Nam with 3 UNESCO-recognized heritage sites.

In recent times, Da Nang has been granted many special mechanisms by the Central Government, including the establishment of Free Trade Zones and an International Financial Center. These are strong impetus to promote local socio-economic development in the near future.

Mr. Quang took the opportunity to ask for a helping hand from Japanese ambassador to call on more businesses and investors from his country to invest in a number of key areas in the city such as high technology, information technology, tourism, and education and training. He also requested the sharing of experience in building Free Trade Zones and an International Financial Center in order for Da Nang to effectively operate and develop these two new economic models.

When meeting with Japanese Ambassador to Viet Nam Ito Naoki also on the same day, Chairman of the municipal People's Committee Luong Nguyen Minh Triet expressed his gratitude for the Japanese diplomat's attendance at the Viet Nam-Japan Festival on July 4 evening. He also thanked Japan for its active support and cooperation in various fields, significantly contributing to the city’s socio-economic development.

The city official affirmed the city's consistent commitment to creating a favorable investment environment and simplifying administrative procedures for foreign enterprises, including those from Japan, when investing in the city.

For his part, Japanese Ambassador to Viet Nam Ito Naoki thanked the city's leaders for their warm welcome and congratulated the newly merged Da Nang on its open space and development potential.

Expressing his impression of the city’s rapid growth, he voiced his hope that with the new mechanisms and policies issued by the Central Government, Da Nang will make a breakthrough in development in the coming time.

In addition to the aforementioned cooperation and investment aspects, the Japanese guest expressed his desire that the two sides will cooperate on the Da Nang - Quang Nam urban railway project. With its rich experience, Japan is willing to share and cooperate in developing transport infrastructure with Da Nang in the years ahead.

Ambassador Ito Naoki also believed that the bilateral relationship between Japan and Viet Nam in general, and between Da Nang and Japanese localities in particular, will be deepened in the time to come.
