Da Nang, South Korea’s Naju expand cooperation on smart city building

When receiving Mr. Kim Gwan-yong, Vice Chairman of Council of South Korea’s Naju City on Friday, Vice Chairwoman of the Da Nang People's Committee Nguyen Thi Anh Thi hoped that the two cities will boost the bilateral cooperation in building a smart city and developing sustainable urban areas.

Vice Chairwoman Thi happily welcomed the delegation from Naju City to visit and attend the third edition of the Da Nang Asian Film Festival in 2025. She also expressed her sincere thanks to the Naju government for their active support in mobilizing funding for the film festival.

She also briefed her guest on the potential of the newly-formed Da Nang following the merger with Quang Nam Province, including the soon-to-be-established Da Nang Free Trade Zone with an area of ​​about 1,881 hectares, 2 airports, 2 first-class seaports and a synchronous transportation system connecting seamlessly along the North-South and East-West axes.

The total output of goods through Tien Sa and Chu Lai ports can reach 20 million tons per year. Logistics is considered a key economic sector that creates new growth momentum alongside the tourism industry.

The Chu Lai Open Economic Zone positions its brand and role as an economic leader with strengths in producing key products such as automobiles, supporting industries and precision mechanics. The high-tech park specializes in manufacturing electronic components, software, and artificial intelligence.

The municipal official noted many similarities in the development orientations of the two localities, expressing a desire to collaborate in smart city construction, sustainable urban development, and other areas of mutual interest between the two cities.

At the same time, she invited the delegation of Naju City to attend the Viet Nam - Korea Festival scheduled to be held in Da Nang from August 1 - 3, 2025.

For his part, Mr. Kim Gwan-yong expressed his impression on the rapid growth of Da Nang, expressing his belief that with the city will continue to develop further in the coming time.

Mr. Kim Gwan-yong introduced the strengths of Naju City and highlighted the similarities between the two sides, expressing a desire to strengthen cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
