DNO - On September 29, during its working visit to Japan, a delegation from the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Da Nang, led by its Standing Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Thu Lan, paid a courtesy call on the Mayor of Sakai City, Osaka Prefecture, and exchanged experiences with representatives from the Japanese city's departments and agencies.
Standing Vice Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Da Nang Nguyen Thi Thu Lan expressed her delight at meeting Mayor Nagafuji Hideki of Sakai again following his working visit to Da Nang to attend the Vietnam - Japan Festival 2026 in Da Nang in July.
Briefing on the role of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Da Nang in the political system, the delegation's representative emphasized that the Front serves as a political alliance that unites all classes of people.
Alongside performing the representative role, the Front protects the people’s lawful and legitimate rights and interests, upholds democracy, conducts social criticism, and enhances the people-to-people diplomacy.
This working visit, therefore, aimed to learn about and share experiences with Sakai City regarding the promotion of the people's democracy, the role of residential communities and social organizations in local development, and social welfare policies.
Standing Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Thu Lan believed, based on the friendly and cooperative relationship established between Da Nang and Sakai in 2019, the two cities would continue to further exchange and cooperate across various fields, bringing practical benefits to the people of both localities.
For his part, Mayor Nagafuji Hideki appreciated the delegation from the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Da Nang. He affirmed that Sakai always attaches importance to boosting its friendship and deepening cooperative activities and people-to-people exchanges with Da Nang.
On the same day, the Da Nang delegation had a discussion with the relevant departments and agencies of Sakai.
The two sides focused on four key groups of issues: "citizen audit mechanism"; the operating model and cooperation experience between the Sakai government and the Sakai Social Welfare Council (Sakai Shakyo) in providing social welfare services, mobilizing community resources, volunteers, and businesses to participate in caring for vulnerable groups; the community consultation mechanism and the promotion of people’s participation and monitoring in policy-making and urban planning; and the methods for receiving, consolidating, and responding to the voters’ opinions.
