Expanding international air connectivity

Reportedly, accommodation establishments in Da Nang served nearly 6 million visitors in the first four months of 2026, up 19.2% year-on-year. International arrivals reached almost 3.4 million, an increase of 24.9%, while domestic visitors totalled nearly 2.6 million, up 12.5%.

Supported by an expanding flight network and increasingly diverse tourism products, the city continues strengthening its position on the international tourism map while targeting higher-quality visitor segments. Da Nang is currently connected by 28 air routes, including seven domestic and 21 regular international routes.

In the first five months of 2026, the city handled more than 21,700 domestic and international flights, up 13% year-on-year, with an average of 144 flights per day.

Since the beginning of the year, tourism promotion campaigns have been launched in markets such as the Philippines, India, and Russia. At the same time, Da Nang has made efforts to open new routes linking the city with Bali, Manila, and Phu Quoc, while restoring the Vientiane-Da Nang route.

Meanwhile, Da Nang International Terminal Investment and Operation Joint Stock Company has recently broken ground on the expansion of Terminal T2 at Da Nang International Airport.

With a total investment of nearing VND 1.5 trillion, the project aims to improve passenger experience and increase terminal capacity to 6 million passengers annually during the 2026 - 2030 period.

Promoting key tourism markets

In 2026, Da Nang aims to welcome around 19.1 million overnight visitors, up 10.5% from 2025, including 8.7 million international arrivals.

To sustain growth, the city’s tourism sector has introduced a 2026 tourism communication and promotion plan with specific targets for each market segment.

Under the plan, Asian markets remain a major focus, with expected growth from Japan, China, India and Southeast Asian countries, while European and CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States) markets are also projected to increase strongly.

According to the Da Nang Tourism Promotion Centre, the city is intensifying market-specific promotion campaigns highlighting resort tourism, cuisine, cultural heritage, green tourism, community tourism, and international festivals.

Digital campaigns are also being expanded through social media, online travel agencies and partnerships with airlines and international travel companies.

Da Nang is also increasing its participation in international tourism fairs and business networking events across the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, Japan, South Korea, Germany, Russia, Kazakhstan, the UAE, Australia, and the United States.

The city also cooperates with platforms such as Kools to strengthen destination promotion. Additional initiatives include tourism business forums, airline promotion conferences, and welcoming famtrip, presstrip and international KOL delegations.

According to Deputy Director of the city’s Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, expanding international partnerships and promotion activities is expected to help Da Nang diversify tourism markets and enhance its competitiveness as a regional destination.
