The growth momentum has continued into 2026. In the first four months of the year, the city served nearly 6 million visitors, up 19.2% year-on-year, including around 3.4 million international arrivals, an increase of 24.9%.
Notably, during the recent Hung Kings Commemoration Day and April 30-May 1 holidays, Da Nang ranked among the localities with the country’s highest tourist arrivals and tourism revenue as it welcomed approximately 1.46 million visitors, up nearly 35% compared to the same period in 2025. Tourism revenue was estimated at VND 5.7 trillion.
The city’s aviation sector also reflects its growing appeal. Da Nang currently operates 27 air routes, including 20 regular international routes connecting such key markets as South Korea, Japan, Southeast Asia and the Middle East.
Strategies for comprehensive and sustainable development needed
To maintain growth and move towards becoming a premier Asian tourism destination, Da Nang has outlined a comprehensive and sustainable development strategy.
The city plans to expand its tourism space with satellite destinations by closely connecting the modern city with cultural and ecological values.
Its tourism ecosystem is being restructured with focus on specific product lines such as high-end resorts linked to real estate, MICE and golf tourism, and emerging segments such as wedding tourism, medical tourism and the night-time economy.
Simultaneously, infrastructure investment and enhanced connectivity play a vital role as the "lifeblood" for development.
The city will also concentrate on upgrading Da Nang International Airport, transforming Tien Sa Port into a specialized tourist port, and completing inter-regional road and rail connections to Hoi An, Tam Ky, Chu Lai, and international border gates.
Additionally, the expansion of terminals T1 and T2 at Da Nang International Airport will be proposed.
Meanwhile efforts will be made to attract investment into marina complexes and major tourism projects such as the Ngu Hanh Son Cultural-Historical Park and the International Fireworks Complex.
