DNO - Da Nang is positioning itself as one of Vietnam’s most promising medical tourism destinations, combining world-class healthcare with the city’s reputation as a coastal paradise.
The move aligns with Vietnam’s national strategy to expand medical tourism as part of its health and wellness development goals through 2030.
The city has laid out an ambitious roadmap: by the end of 2026, Da Nang will offer at least five integrated health and wellness packages, expanding to 10 by mid-2028 and reaching 15 by 2030.
These packages are designed to merge medical treatment with relaxation, supported by digital platforms in multiple languages for booking, consultation and payment.
Several hospitals are already pioneering the trend. In 2017, the Da Nang Oriental Medicine Hospital pioneered medical tourism by launching a specialised unit offering treatment and rehabilitation for international visitors.
Leveraging the city’s natural charm, skilled professionals, and rich traditional medicinal resources, the hospital quickly attracted patients from around the world.
Today, its clientele spans South Korea, Japan, China, the United States and Europe, with South Koreans making up over half of all international patients.
The hospital’s success reflects Da Nang’s growing appeal as a destination where cultural discovery, natural beauty, and holistic healing seamlessly converge.
Meanwhile, the Hospital 199 has introduced a dedicated medical tourism division, treating specialized cases for international groups and strengthening ties with global healthcare partners.

Private hospitals such as Vinmec and Family Hospital have also emerged as trusted choices for foreign visitors, offering international-standard treatment areas, post-treatment care, and partnerships with global insurance providers.
With its pristine beaches, luxury resorts, modern healthcare facilities, and skilled medical workforce, Da Nang is uniquely positioned to become a hub for travellers seeking both treatment and rejuvenation.
For international visitors, the city offers more than a vacation, it promises a complete journey of healing and wellness.

The market has shown remarkable growth, expanding from US$ 639 billion in 2017 to US$ 919 billion in 2022. This surge highlights both the rising demand for wellness-focused journeys and the opportunities for destinations like Da Nang to position themselves as leading players in this fast-evolving sector.
