Da Nang Chairman receives Japanese Consul General in Da Nang

ĐNO - On May 13, Chairman of the Da Nang People’s Committee Nguyen Manh Hung hosted a reception for Mori Takero, Consul General of Japan in Da Nang, and his delegation.

At the meeting, Chairman Nguyen Manh Hung praised the active support of the Japanese Consulate General in promoting cooperation between Da Nang and Japanese localities, partners, and businesses recently. He expressed hope for continued coordination in the future.

The Da Nang chairman also stated that Da Nang’s GRDP (Gross Regional Domestic Product) grew 8.45% year-over-year in the first quarter of 2026, with the city’s economy reaching VND75.594 trillion.

Da Nang’s import-export turnover reached USD 2.24 billion, while domestic investment attraction exceeded VND 58 trillion. FDI (foreign direct investment) inflows totalled USD 37.47 million.

Besides the city centre, destinations such as Hoi An Ancient Town, My Son Sanctuary, Marble Mountains and Cham Islands continues attracting visitors with a blend of heritage and modern tourism experiences.

The city is currently connected by 26 domestic and international air routes via Da Nang International Airport and two regular domestic routes through Chu Lai Airport.

The city chairman also highlighted ongoing cultural exchange programmes with Japan to further strengthen bilateral ties.

According to Nguyen Manh Hung, after administrative integration with former Quang Nam Province, Da Nang now has greater development potential and special mechanisms supporting growth, creating opportunities for foreign investors, particularly Japanese businesses in sectors such as seaports, finance, science, and technology.

He expressed hope that Mori Takero would continue acting as a bridge connecting Japanese enterprises with investment opportunities in the city.

For his part, Mori Takero thanked the city leaders for their warm reception, praised Da Nang’s recent achievements, and expressed hope for continued support for Japanese-language training programmes and issues concerning Japanese businesses and partners.
